I am a professional photographer, currently living in Incline Village, on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, NV. Right now I balance my time between hiking/photography and working with animals at the local veterinary hospital. I spend just about every free moment photographing sunrises, sunsets, and everything in between. If I'm not at the beach, you can find me high a top a mountain peak photographin
g the sun setting. While most would stay and camp, or leave well before the sun set, I prefer the wonderful peace and isolation of walking through the mountains at night armed with only a flashlight. I know that in order to produce the best photographs, I must be in the right place at the right time. While luck does play a part, it mostly involves lot of preparation. In order for me to be successful - I prepare by frequently checking weather reports, time of sun set, angle of light in respect to where I will be, and envisioning what the photo will look like before I take it. Once I decide on the general vicinity of where I'd like to be, I examine topography and aerial maps to pin-point the ideal spot that gives me best perspective over my subject. While a lot of photographers like to shoot before or after a storm, I prefer to be in the thick of it. I thrive in it! I water-proof my gear and head out into the storm with every intention of coming home drenched. I photograph at locations in conditions that most would shy away from - but I believe that these create the most inspiring of scenes. Because of this and my vision, I feel that I create the most unique photography in Lake Tahoe. My photos tend to lean more toward "surreal" as I try to transmit a "feeling" rather than reality as most see it.
