🩷DONATIONS NEEDED🩷 Hannah and I spent Monday overnight at the ER vet. She had been acting slightly off the night before, and on Monday evening she was not wanting to put weight on her front legs and was hobbling around when she tried to walk. She kept standing upright with her front paws tucked like a T-Rex.

Although x-rays and bloodwork ruled out some possibilities, we still don't really know what is causing this and Hannah is still not wanting to walk and is mostly just laying in bed all day except to get up to potty. The ER vet's best guess was soft tissue injury of some sort. We have a vet visit next week with our primary care vet, Rockville Road Animal Hospital for a recheck and to try to get some answers if she still hasn't improved. In the meantime, Hannah is on painkillers and resting and I'm keeping a close eye on her. She remains amazingly sweet and loves to be held and petted.

I'm thankful I foster for a good rescue who said yes to an ER visit rather than waiting til the next day for regular vet when we didn't know what was wrong. Hannah's visit ending up costing over $1200 and it is completely worth it to make sure she was okay, but dang, ER vets are pricey! I'd love to help the rescue recoup some of those costs, especially knowing that Hannah is going to need more follow-up care soon.

On top of that, my other foster cat Hobbes had a dental with extractions on Tuesday morning which was hundreds of dollars as well.

Please donate if you are able so My New Cat Rescue can continue their life-saving work and help more cats in need. I love fostering for them and we can't do it without the support of donors. You can donate here: https://mynewcat.org/donate/

Rowl's culture and sensitivity came back today and explained why he's not getting better. They found multiple drug resistant organisms and one is resistant to basically everything. We are going to be trying injectable antibiotics, with daily subcu fluids. The meds may damage his kidneys, but they are his last hope. Lots of tears today. I will get another picture of his, sweet face instead of this yucky incision.

It's official! Hannah is available for adoption from My New Cat Rescue.

Meet Hannah! Hannah is a gorgeous 4 year old spayed female. She is up to date on vaccines and preventatives and will be microchipped prior to adoption.

Hannah enjoys the company of humans and her motor really gets going when you pet her. She is brave and outgoing and likes to explore her surroundings. She would enjoy having a cat tree or cat shelves for her to survey her future kingdom, and a perch near a window to watch nature. So far in her foster home, Hannah hasn't shown much interest in toys or treats, she'd mainly prefer to have human attention in the form of pets. She does enjoy the finer things in life like soft beds and cozy cubbies to snooze in so her new home will hopefully have plenty of those for her.

Hannah came to the rescue as an owner surrender when the owner was facing eviction for too many pets in the home. In her foster home, she does not enjoy the company of other cats and makes that known to everyone, so in her ideal home she will be the only cat. She can be vocal about getting what she wants, whether that is food or attention. Her fur is a bit patchy from having fleas in that past but now that she's flea-free her fur should start to grow back. She is already very beautiful and when her coat grows in fully she will be stunning.

Hannah lives in a foster home in Indianapolis, so after being approved for adoption, an appointment will need to be made for you to meet her at her foster home.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me publicly or privately in regard to my post and public comment to the IACS Advisory Board about my concerns about Humane Society of the Dunes, Inc.

I believe the public has a right to know the whereabouts of the animals that this rescue has pulled from Indianapolis Animal Care Services & IACS Rescue, considering IACS is asking for the public to donate money for the care of these animals and therefore implicitly endorsing this rescue as reputable.

Whether you agreed with me or not on my assessment that there are substantial allegations of misconduct and other red flags, thank you sincerely to those who cared enough to reach out. We all want the same thing, that the animals who go to any rescue from IACS are cared for properly. I don't care about the shelter politics involved here, and I am really not interested in pointing fingers at IACS or assigning blame to them because I don't believe that will actually accomplish anything and overall IACS does send hundreds of animals to reputable rescues each year, which is a wonderful outcome for those animals.

However, I will continue to call on IACS to investigate this and take this seriously. I will not be quiet about this until I believe an adequate response from IACS has been achieved. What I want, and what I hope is the long-term outcome of me bringing this up, is oversight and accountability for all rescues IACS allows to pull their animals, not just Humane Society of the Dunes, Inc. However, I would like that oversight and accountability to start with them, given the severity of the allegations.

I understand that this rescue is outside of IACS' jurisdiction as far as charges are concerned, but IACS could absolutely demand airtight proof of the whereabouts of the animals they've sent them before allowing them to pull more animals, and that is what I asked for. If proof of wrongdoing is uncovered later, will any of us be happy if IACS didn't take this seriously when I (and several others previously) brought this up to them?

Many of you asked how you can help, and I believe the biggest thing any of us can do individually is asking IACS to investigate this and take it seriously. From the response I got from all of you, I know I'm not the only one who believes this is concerning. So speak up. You could send a message to the shelter and their rescue page asking them to take it seriously. You could email the IACS advisory board asking what their response is (I can send you their email addresses). You could attend the next public meeting of the advisory board in January, where anyone is allowed to make a public comment. IACS is a government organization who is answerable to the public. You have a right to voice your concerns, although I ask you to do it respectfully so that our voices will be heard. You could message or email Humane Society of the Dunes, Inc asking for proof of whereabouts of the animals.

Getting my concerns out to the public and my rescue contacts was the first step. I am exploring other avenues of getting this rescue to stop pulling animals from IACS until substantial proof of whereabouts is provided in the event that the response from IACS is not what I'm hoping for. If you have donated to Humane Society of the Dunes for any IACS animals, reach out to me privately please.

Topaz was the first IACS Rescue dog I met when I started volunteering at IACS. I remember seeing her posts and falling in love, so when I saw her at my volunteer orientation, I felt like I was seeing a celebrity. It was sad to see the reality of the shelter for the first time. She was in a dingy and small kennel, and she was missing a lot of fur. She looked very sad and dejected, there was p**p and p*e in her kennel, and she had a sign saying "parvo exposed". I was concerned that she might not make it out, that her story might end there. Imagine how happy I was when I saw soon after that that Topaz had been rescued! When an animal goes to rescue, it's pretty much a guarantee that it will be a huge step up from their life at the shelter. The shelter is not a fun place to live, and some dogs like Topaz require more medical care than the shelter can provide. I felt good seeing she went to rescue and that her life would be so much better now. I hope that turned out to be true for Topaz when she went to Humane Society of the Dunes, Inc. I hope she got the medical care she needed and was adopted by a loving family. If you know the current whereabouts of Topaz, or any other IACS animal pulled by Humane Society of the Dunes, please reach out to me. I can keep you anonymous if that's what you'd prefer. At the end of the day, I just want to know they are safe.

New Year's Eve is a sad day for Spud. It will be his 200th day in the shelter. Poor Spud has the odds stacked against him. He is a black dog, he's older, and he doesn't like other dogs. On top of that, he came to the shelter heartworm positive. I had hoped he'd find a foster to have his HW treatment done in the comfort of a home, but that never happened for him. So he had his treatment at the shelter. Spud has finished the treatment and now needs a foster or adopter.

I'm including a photo of the kennel he has lived in for over six months now. Can you imagine spending 23+ hours a day behind bars in a loud and smelly kennel, getting out only 1-2 times a day for 10-20 minutes to potty and get some fresh air? The shelter is not a place anyone should live longterm. It's a testament to what a good dog Spud is that this imprisonment hasn't caused him to act out or become overly stressed like it does with many longtermers.

Spud is a friendly and playful dog who likes people and loves toys and going for walks. He is long past the energetic puppy stage but still has the energy for walks and fetch. He just needs someone to take a chance on him. Can we get 200 shares for Spud in honor of his 200 days at the shelter? Please help Spud get out ❤️ he is available for adoption or foster from Indianapolis Animal Care Services

There is a $330 pledge for rescue for Spud 💗

Hannah wasn't too in the mood to have her photo taken today. She's still adjusting to her new surroundings. She is not a fan of any of the other cats so I make sure they're put away when she's out so she has time to explore and hang out without them. The way my foster room is set up right now, Ayden and Arrvo have the run of the room, Hobbes and Hannah each have a large dog kennel. I let them out a few times a day to stretch their legs and play and cuddle me or just hang out.

Right now Ayden and Arrvo eat a prescription food that is different from what Hobbes and Hannah eat, and Hobbes and Hannah both had fleas in the past (they've been treated) so we keep them segregated since with fleas often come tapeworms. I hope someday I can have a fully integrated foster cat pack but it's good to be able to keep them separate when different diets or potential parasites are involved 😅

Hannah is so stunning, I hope she'll allow me to get some good photos of her soon. She is very friendly with people and outgoing. I think she wants to be the only cat in her future home so we will give preference to an adopter who just wants a single cat. She's four years old, spayed, vaccinated, and will be microchipped prior to going to her new home. She's available for adoption through My New Cat Rescue. She lives in my foster home in Indianapolis, IN.

Some more foster cats from My New Cat Rescue. These ones are with Alyson, not me :) I took Hugo to one of his vet appointments and he sure makes an impression on you. Can't help but love him!!

Hugo looks sad in every picture. I assure you that's just how his face looks 😁

He came from IACS, a bedraggled old guy who wasn't healthy enough for adoption and had some rotten teeth that needed out. It was a rough life out on the streets for Hugo. He had multiple parasites, raggedy ears, crusty skin and hes FIV +. He has now been neutered, had rotten teeth pulled and his various ailments treated. His last hurdle is a CT scan early November to check for a nasal polyp.

He is an easy guy and is just happy to have a source of reliable food and chin scratches. He is totally chill with other cats. He enjoys being brushed, sitting in laps and eating. Someone out there will be lucky to adopt this big cheeked guy.

Sometimes when you see them every day, you don't notice the gradual improvements in their medical issues. Thats why I love this picture, it shows how far he's come! Hobbes is looking so good! He's been an absolute angel considering the medicine regime he's subjected to here. I really adore this boy. It's true what they say about orange cats, they're the most loving, friendly floofs, with the fewest braincells. Thank you to My New Cat Rescue for letting me foster him and getting him the medical care he needs, he's been a joy to have here with my foster crew. I'm thinking it won't be too long before he's ready for a family of his own too 🥹

If there were allegations that a rescue who has pulled 107 animals from Indianapolis Animal Care Services were euthanizing the animals and pocketing the pledge money, killing community cats that people have asked them to find homes for, stealing people’s pets, and euthanizing animals without sedation, would you want IACS Rescue to look into it further?

Would you want proof that your pledge money went toward helping the animals? Would you want proof of the whereabouts of those animals today? Would you want IACS Rescue to stop allowing them to pull more animals until there was solid proof that rescue was doing right by the animals?

Yeah? Me too.

On Tuesday, at the public meeting of the advisory board of IACS, I asked them to stop allowing a rescue known as Humane Society of the Dunes, Inc to take animals from IACS Rescue until a thorough investigation into the whereabouts of the animals they’ve pulled has been done. I presented them with a packet of information I gathered concerning the very serious allegations others have been making.

I am asking my rescue friends to look into this more, and demand that Indianapolis Animal Care Services and Humane Society of the Dunes prove this rescue is reputable before allowing anymore animals to go there. If these allegations are true, it’s a slap in the face of all reputable rescues. I will be the first to apologize if substantial proof is found that these allegations are false. If you’ve ever fostered or adopted from Humane Society of the Dunes, I’d love to hear from you. It’s time for accountability.

See my previous post for the full statement I made. I'm happy to send the packet of allegations to anyone interested, PM me. I care about what happened to these animals. Do you?

Just back from our vet Rockville Road Animal Hospital. Hobbes and Hannah had checkups.

Hobbes' eyes have improved with medication and we will be continuing medication for both eyes and ears to get him feeling better. At this time it doesn't seem he will need surgery on his eyes after all. Hobbes is the friendliest silliest boy, I love him soooo much.

Hannah was vaccinated and health checked out good. Her hair loss is likely caused by fleas so we will re-treat her for fleas just to be safe. It should grow back now that she's flea-free and eating good food. We are going to begin looking for an adopter for her. She's 4 years old, spayed, vaccinated. So beautiful and very friendly and outgoing. It's possible she does not like living with other cats so we will be looking for an adopter where she can be the only cat, or an adopter who can do a proper and patient cat intro.

With all the hubbub yesterday because of our unexpected stray dog visitor, I never got around to posting that Hannah joined my foster crew yesterday! She was surrendered after her owner was facing eviction for too many cats. My New Cat Rescue took in her and several others from the same household and I got lucky that this beauty came to me!! So happy to have her here.

Hannah is gorgeous and friendly, likes to be petted and has a good purr motor. She likes to hide in the little cactus bed (so happy I finally have a cat who not only uses it but has figured out how to get in it instead of laying on top of it 🤣). She's already spayed and we are taking her to the vet tomorrow to get her up to date on whatever is needed. After that, she'll be ready for a family of her own.

From her experience living with 12 other cats, and the interactions I've witnessed between her and my boys, I'd say she probably doesn't love other cats so she may do best as the sole worshipped royalty in her new home, as she deserves.

Please share her so we can start her search for a family. She's fostered at my place in Indianapolis, IN. Adopters can be in Indy, Lafayette area, or in between.
