Baby is still available!!
Baby is a pretty two-year-old girl looking for a home in the Indianapolis area. She went through training to become a racer, but was just too slow. She is very shy to new situations and takes awhile to warm up to you, but she is a very loving girl when she becomes comfortable. She will give kisses and lick your toes for attention! She will require another greyhound in the home due to separation anxiety, but does well not crated, just baby-gated in the living room with my greyhounds. She panics in a crate, so can’t be crated for very long. Car rides are okay, but walks in the neighborhood are scary, so she prefers to stay home.
A harness is a must for her, as she can back out of a martingale collar. I think she would love to snuggle on the couch if her new family would allow that. She has not been tested around kitties, but I have observed that her prey drive does seem to be high, so she may not be able to live with small pets. She has so much love to give to the right family. Could it be yours?

Hi Everyone,
I know it’s been awhile since we’ve had a chance to bring in newly retired racers, but we have been presented with an option. Our GPA National President, Steve Schiferl, has been working hard with Australia to bring their retired racers to the U.S. While our U.S. retired racers are, and always will be the priority, there just aren’t enough to meet adoption groups’ needs at this time with only two tracks still open. These Australian greyhounds will come already spayed/neutered, and their vaccinations are updated for entry into the U.S., so they won’t need that vet visit before getting adopted. We will need to raise our adoption fee to cover additional costs for transport, and may need to raise it again if costs go up in the future. The initial fee will be $350 per dog. We do not get to choose color, but should be able to pick male or female, and no kitty testing is done either, so keep that in mind. We need foster homes available before we can commit to bringing dogs in. At this point I don’t know how long you would be required to foster, before the dog gets adopted, as our families wanting to adopt list needs to be updated since we haven’t had available dogs for well over a year. And, as always, if you foster, you have first choice to adopt your foster.
Please send in a new Foster Application so we can update our info, and if you are looking to adopt, send in a new Adoption Application as well. Both applications are online on the GPA Indy website (gpaindy.org) A few dogs will be coming in November, but will only be going as far as Abilene, Kansas, so we would need to plan a road trip to go after them. It’s a 10 hour drive there; plan for an overnight in Abilene; and then a 10 hour trip back home with the dogs the next day. A lot of preparation and help from volunteers would be needed to make this work. If we can get things lined up, this could be our way back into having dogs available on a fairly regular basis. We can’t do it without foster homes and volunteers though. If you can’t foster, but want to volunteer for a road trip, just let us know. Here’s your chance to foster and/or adopt one of these wonderful retired racers that we know and love. If you have more questions, please call.

FOUND GREYHOUND
A black male greyhound found in Avon, Indiana today. He looks like he could be around 9 according to his left tattoo, but he’s not a NGA greyhound looking at his right tattoo, so maybe an Irish or Australian dog.
He is safely at my house for now until his owner is found.

Ingrid has been a vendor at our GPA Indy picnic many times! She has had several strokes and can’t make collars right now, which is her only source of income. Let’s help her out with some donations to let her know the greyhound community cares about her.

GPA Indy has been invited to this indoor greyhound play date. You must print out the registration form and provide it at the event. Free admission!
No food provided, but you are allowed to bring your own brown bag. Greyhounds only, and bring your muzzles. It sounds like a great place for your greyhounds to run and play!
Thank you for the invite, Prison Greyhounds!

This is why we don’t approve of flexi leads as well.
You don’t have enough control of your dog with this type of lead.

Very common in ‘sugar free’ products.

This is a reminder! If you plan on going, register now before registration closes!
Hi Everyone!
Registration is now open for the Greyhound Gathering in Abilene, Kansas. If you have never been, this should be on your bucket list. You will get a chance to visit a greyhound farm, see, and possibly hold puppies, see them schooling at a nearby training track, and meet lots of greyhound adopters and professionals. The live auction is awesome, and for those with a limited budget, there is a bag raffle to win some wonderful things as well. There will be vendors with lots of greyhound related items to sell too. Just click the link below and I hope to see you there! They are using Pure Michigan’s website for registration so don’t be alarmed at the link. It’s a valid link.

Saw this on a friend’s post:
Watch Your Pups Peeps! If your dog has been digging up your yard recently, chances are they hear what we can’t hear...thousands of juvenile cicadas tunneling up after a 17 year hibernation. 🙈With the sudden warm temps this weekend, we could see millions of Brood X crawl out once the soil temp reaches 64 degrees. Their hard shells could wreak havoc on your pups tummies if they eat too many!!! Here’s a fun fact: Entomologists say densities can be as great as 1.5 MILLION cicadas an acre.

FYI
We, at Get Kansas Racing, would like to send our sincere condolences to the family of Jim Potter and his wife Jody. As most of you are aware, they were tragically killed on their way to school dogs in Abilene yesterday. Their family was following in a vehicle behind them and were not physically harmed.

There were 18 dogs in the trailer, 3 were killed and as of now, all of the rest are accounted for. We, in greyhound nation will help with these dogs until the family gets through all of this and then they will be returned to them as this is part of their father's and grandfather's legacy and they will fulfill the wishes of Jim.

Again, thank you all for your prayers and thoughts.

We have been asked by the Veterinarians and Sheriff department in Hillsboro to PLEASE ask people TO STOP CALLING if you have no ownership of these dogs!! You are tying up their phones and keeping them from doing their jobs and taking care of the dogs. The NGA and the family are in touch with those involved with the welfare of the dogs. I know everyone wants to help, but unfortunately it's causing more of a hindrance at this point.

Let's also keep some perspective here, two people lost their lives in front of their family members.

For people asking, GPA Kansas is handling the donations for the dogs involved in the accident. Please post this on your adoption page as I would like to keep this page for legislative purposes but I know greyhound nation wants to come together and help and I appreciate that.

Hello, my wife and I and our Greyhound Claire will be relocating from Kansas to Fort Wayne in June. Interested in contacting someone living in Fort Wayne with a Greyhound who who might be willing to provide some advice on Greyhound knowledgeable veterinarians in Fort Wayne, dog chiropractors, and any other recommendations that would be relevant to living in Fort Wayne with a Greyhound. Claire says thank you.

I love when GPA groups work together for the dogs! Thank you GPA Kansas, TJ Beader, Steve Schiferl, Shelley Lake, volunteers, foster homes, drivers, the GPA Indy board, and GPA Nashville for helping coordinate this haul from Kansas yesterday. We are so lucky they arrived safely before the ice storm this morning. They are settling into their foster homes and will be vetted in the next few weeks before we start working through the applications that we have already. Some foster homes volunteered to foster with the intent of adopting if the dog fit in well with their family, so you might see a few become “Adoption Pending” on the website soon.
Welcome to Indy: Crypt, Cole, Captain, Racy, Kallie, Karen, Kandy, Katrina, Simpson, Sky, Flare, Apache, Andrew, Miraculous, and Serena.

Merry Christmas! With thanks going to Tom Trickle for creating this!

Hi Everyone!
We have a chance to get some new dogs from West Virginia. They will not be cat tested or vetted before they get here, so keep that in mind before you say Yes.
We will pay for their vetting once they get here, but you will need to make the appointments and get them to and from those appointments. They are coming through Chicago, so we need to go up after them. I don't have a definite date yet, but they need to be moved in December, probably in the next week or so. This may be our last chance to get dogs, so if you're thinking about getting a new dog, or want to foster so someone else can bring a new dog into their family, now is the time. We need you to step up, if you can. Please do it for the dogs!
Contact me by email ([email protected]), or by phone (317-354-6858) as soon as possible please.
Thank you!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Remember to limit people food when giving treats to your greys today. The change in their diet can cause digestion issues! Please watch the doors if you have company over and keep a collar with ID on them, just in case they slip out. We certainly hope you have a safe holiday and enjoy this day with your family, including the ones with four legs.

Hi everyone!
I was contacted about a newly retired racer coming through on a hauler from West Virginia tomorrow afternoon, and was asked to take him in to rehome him. He is a beautiful 4-year-old red male, and was a grade AA racer, so most likely not small animal safe. I'm looking for a foster home that doesn't have small animals, can take him to a couple of vet appointments (we will cover this), can pick him up in Plainfield tomorrow (Sunday) around 1:00pm, and has fostered for us before. EDITED: Is there anyone that has adopted from us willing to foster him?
Please contact me on the GPA Indy phone at 317-354-6858.
Thanks so much!
