Degreasing in cold temps is not the easiest to do but I'm making it work. The first picture had 2 goat skulls soaking in cold water. There was a bunch of grease and more pulled out. Overall I was able to fill the tanks and keep working!

Getting a few things accomplished. Had a couple of firsts- one muley buck has fangs and I had another buck that had botfly larvae in the back of his throat. I set up a second tank to help with degreasing skulls that are close to being done. A few were whitened today too!

It's that time of year!! Nebraska deer season is here! We're already hearing of hunter's success and stories from the deer trees! I use dermestid beetles to clean the skulls, they really do get into every little hidy hole. Getting skulls done!

beetles all over! opening the lid and seeing all the beetles at work is the best feeling! (don't pay attention to the ham beetles- they aren't supposed to be in here)

Trying something new to keep everything together. I've had some problems with teeth becoming mixed up and figuring out the teeth puzzle. 🤞let's hope this works! #jacqueseurostaxidermy #europeanmounts #smallmounts #beaverskull

Saturday I drained and refilled the tank. Sunday evening check there was so much grease on top of the water. I'm draining and refilling it again. This is why it's so important to degrease your skulls/ bones.

I have a love hate relationship with longhorns! Ask me if I want to do another and I'll tell you I have one in my degreasing tank and another in the freezer.... there's just something about them 🤩🤩🤩

The first is raw horns right off the skull. So far I've taken them from 60 grit sand paper to 220 grit. Not done yet, still need to take off a few more flakes and remove some grooves.

My employees arrived without issue and easily settled right in and got busy. These beetles fascinate me. 🤩🤩
