We limit our girls to one litter in a calendar year, OFA health test all our breeding dogs as recommended by the AKC & parent clubs, all our dogs are AKC registered, and all our pups come with limi

ted AKC registration (with very few exceptions), started crate and potty training, and well socialized with people and animals. Our website is JordanGiants.com and our Linktree with all other links is https://linktr.ee/jordangiantsnadbunch .

Being a good and responsible breeder is not for the weak. This year alone has been one thing after another of struggles and praying for guidance.

Yesterday we received some insanely unexpected news - Betty Roseā€™s heart exam came back that she will be okay, but her heart isnā€™t one we need to pass on to future generations. This hit us as a complete shock as both her parents were tested and are fine, but the vet told us that flukes happen and they suspect that here. So our sweet Betty is now retired, will be spayed asap (appt already on the books) to prevent accidental litters, and we are praying through what our next generation of breeders will look like.

As far as 2nd gen females, we are looking to Sarai now to see if she qualifies. Though slighter in build to Betty, she has more of her Mama Mistyā€™s build and a very loving personality. Obviously, she would have to pass all health testing, as well.

Just please remember that if you have a responsible breeder, they are spending a fortune in money, time, energy, and heart to make sure you are getting an amazing puppy.

(And for those wondering, no, Betty isnā€™t going anywhere. She is our pet first and will take over the spot left open by Tappyā€™s passing of favorite aunt to puppies and amazing cuddly couch potato.)

We have exciting news about sweet Elara!!! Sheā€™s has been adopted and will be heading to her new family in 2 weeks. Sheā€™s going to be an only doggie with 3 kiddos to love on her and an extra patient Mommy (kindergarten teacher) to help her get her training spot on and adjust perfectly. We have been praying so hard that God would bring the absolute perfect family for her and we can see this is it! Thank God!!

Hey all - just letting you all know a change we are making with our dogs. Weā€™re pretty open about what food we use - 4Health by Tractor Supply (appropriate one for Danes, Corgi, and cats)- and of course they get farm fresh eggs daily along with other yummy homemade food. We have an open door policy (just be okay with our chaos) and try to keep everything observable just in case anyone else needs advice as to what to be doing.

But a while back a puppy parent had one of our 2 yr old puppies neutered and they asked us about supplements. Having never used any before, we went to other more experienced breeders to find out what to do. Thatā€™s when we found out about NuVet. Itā€™s been trusted by reputable breeders for years. When we started looking at the benefits, we decided all our dogs are going to be getting on these supplements. Weā€™ve had some dogs struggling with itching from allergies, some recovering from surgery, and we just want to make sure our dogs are at optimum health. We will also be adding them into our puppiesā€™ programs before they leave our homes so they have the best immunities we can give them before they head out and recommending them to our puppy parents. Our thought is - when your find something that works - use it! So if youā€™re interested- hereā€™s the info and a code you can use for ordering. šŸ˜Š

Weā€™re sharing sweet Elara again. You can read her whole story below, but the summary is she was a puppy returned to us due to no fault of her own. Sheā€™s a great dog, full Great Dane, with a low price tag thanks to her previous owners taking such good care of her. Sheā€™s up to date on all shots, spayed, and ready to go to a home to be deeply loved and spoiled.

Why a Great Dane? Why the added cost for size and the shorter life span (usually 7-10, but seen 13)? Hereā€™s why:

Last night, our family was devastated by the loss of Tappy. I watched our 9 year old, JJ, sobbing and watched as Pup walked up to his little body and laid his giant neck on JJā€™s small shoulders, hugging him. I watched Betty see me crying and come bury her entire head up against my chest, refusing to move. I watched Elara and Misty cuddle the children as they finally slept.

Why a Dane? Because they have a compassion and love that I have seen in few animals anywhere (including humans). Our Danes werenā€™t just there last night. They were there with us, feeling the loss and comforting their people- carrying on the amazing legacy of what Tappy taught them all. She was never a Mama, but she was an amazing big sister and aunt to all our dogs and we are forever grateful for our first giant girl.

And now all of them are reminding us just how great Great Danes really are.

Iā€™ve been watching sweet Elara a good bit lately. Just watching her interact with our pack and seeing how sheā€™s doing. And Iā€™m also one of those people that thinks if youā€™re wrong, admit it. Elara doesnā€™t care for the utter chaos of a large pack like ours, but as she interacts with them individually or in sets of 2, Iā€™m realizing sheā€™s actually doing well with them. Tappy was her snuggle buddy. Sheā€™d curl up next to her. Iā€™m hoping Misty can let her do that now. She loves roughhousing with Yogi. So sheā€™s okay with some of them, but not okay enough to stay with the whole lot of ours. So as much as I want to, I canā€™t keep her.

So hereā€™s an update on her and her back story.

Elara came back to us bc even though she had an amazing human family, her doggie sister decided not to get along with her after a year and a half with her.

What would be most amazing for her is a family or individual that is home a lot, would like to take her with them when they have to leave (though sheā€™s been fine when weā€™ve all had to leave), and in general just love and spoil her. She does okay with other dogs her size (and our Corgi) if they are friendly, but sheā€™d probably love to be a single spoiled girl, too. I wouldnā€™t recommend her with really small dogs or cats. She seems to want to play too rough with our cats.

She has a very small rehoming thanks to her amazing previous owners. Sheā€™s already been spayed, is up to date on all shots, and is a healthy little girl.

One of the hardest parts of breeding dogs is working crazy hard to get an amazing litter -doing all the good things like health testing, finding a good stud, timing it to your best ability - and then a female not taking. All that hard work seems wasted. You pick up and try again next time, but have a good cry first.

Such is my fate with Misty this time. The ultrasound today showed no babies. We will try with her and Diesel again on her next cycle, but unfortunately we wonā€™t have Spring puppies this year.

Betty and Sarai are in the midst of health testing and if all goes well, will hopefully breed with Lux (also finishing health testing) this summer.

Itā€™s been a frustrating day but we know God has perfect timing and we are trusting Him.

We have been learning our sweet return dog, Elara. Elara came back to us bc even though she had an amazing human family, her doggie sister decided not to get along with her after a year and a half with her.

So weā€™ve been figuring her out and trying to evaluate what kind of home would work best for her. As much as we all love her (sheā€™s already sleeping with our kiddos), we are realizing that our house is a bit too chaotic and our pack too big for her. She gets a bit nervous when the whole pack is together. I actually believe she would do best as an only dog, if at all possible. Sheā€™d make an excellent best friend for someone that always wants her close.

So we are starting to look for a permanent home for her. Sheā€™s been doing well with training and is ready for her new home. She learns fast, is polite to other dogs (though a bit nervous at first bc of what happened to her), and has been incredible with our kids. She has been around our cats but seems a bit rough-housed with them. I wouldnā€™t recommend her around small animals.

What would be most amazing for her is a family or individual that is home a lot, would like to take her with them when they have to leave (though sheā€™s been fine when weā€™ve all had to leave), and in general just love and spoil her. She does okay with other dogs if they are friendly, but sheā€™d probably love to be a single spoiled girl.

A Dream Come True

We are Jeff and Stacy Jordan of Columbia, SC. It has been our dream since before we were married, over 20 years ago, to own our favorite breed, Great Dane. We finally made this dream come true and are so thankful it has gone so well. On this page, you can follow along with our Great Danesā€™ stories. We have also added to our family and really developed quite a menagerie over here. So keep checking back here often to see if we might have your next pet.
