Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to put a reminder out there that the Isanti County Fair 4H Rabbit show is a week away! The rabbit project is still looking for sponsors for the youth awards! It is $20 to sponsor.

Here is a list of awards that the youth work all year for a chance to win!

•Grand and Reserve Champion breed awards (The best of each breed)

•Grand and Reserve Champion Single Fryer (market)

•Grand and Reserve Champion Market Pen

•Best in Show/Reserve in Show Market

•Best In Show/Reserve in Show Breeding Animal

•Senior/intermediate/Junior Showmanship Grand Champion and Reserve Champion (awarded to the 2 most knowledgeable rabbit show persons in each age class)

•Cloverbud (K-2) Showmanship awards

Isanti County is blessed to have a competitive and caring group of kids in the rabbit project. I’ve been around the project for quite some time. These kids all work really hard and care a lot about eachother and their animals. If you’d like to sponsor you can message me or reach out to the Isanti County 4-H Extension Office at 763-689-1810. The office is setting up for fair so feel free to leave a message or let me know if you need help connecting to someone.

Thank you for your time!

Had a fun time at the Rothsay show yesterday!

Yesterday was my first time going solo to a show as Noah had conferences for wrestling, but we did alright😉

I got to spend my day as a writer! That was a lot of fun and I learned a lot! I really enjoyed getting to be up there and watching other breeds be evaluated.

Hopeful we can make it to more shows this year!

*Edit- typo on their tattoos**

Ugh if only you could keep every rabbit from a litter!!! Hahaha. But seriously, I’ve had the hardest decision in trying to choose which rabbits to keep back from our Iron Maiden x Black Sabbath litter from 4/24/23. Each one can offer a lot to someone’s breeding program.

The steel listed, 1BI3, someone needs to take off my hands before I change my mind again😅 love his color. He’s got the best color of our steel bucks. The only reason his brothers are staying over him is because he’s longer in his body than the rest but I feel like once he grows into himself I will regret letting him go!

The black is agouti based, out of a black and steel. Breed with steel or light grey if you’re looking to get more of that variety! 1BI5 is a cute little love bunny! He’s super sweet and could be your new little snuggly buddy or has the traits to be a nice breeder! He was the runt so may not beat bigger rabbits that could end up on the table but definitely can pass on some good traits if you wanted to use him in breeding.

Both have good parents but I love to brag about the dam. Mom is our beloved Iron Maiden. Has gotten multiple legs for BOV and always gets great comments from the judges. She’s been right up there neck and neck with some hefty sandies/fawns for BOB in big classes. Sometimes the light greys/steels we’ve noticed can just struggle to compete size wise with those varieties. Therefore it could really benefit your line adding these guys genetics to your herd. Before Irons first litter she weighed in at just about 20 lbs!! One of her sons weighed in at 10.6 lbs at 5 1/2 months old! Size isn’t the only thing she’s got. She’s passed on her amazing demeanor to her babies and these boys have definitely got it!!

Anyways if you’re interested please let me know. I’d love to get these guys into a new place before winter. Message me if you have any questions.

**Partial deposit (goes towards cost) is required and holds rabbit for 2 weeks while pickup is arranged (more info on our deposit policy is on our page).

**We will work with transport as long as you arrange it.

**Pedigrees included

2023 MN State Fair Results -Poultry

Wow! This years state fair encampment was the fastest yet! I know I say it every year but this time I really mean it!

Noah attempted the poultry project at state fair. It was interesting shaking it up a bit and learning about how a different project does the state fair experience. Rabbits will still be my favorite encampment but it was cool to try something new!

Noah got to learn a whole bunch of new stuff as he prepared for the Judging Contest, Poultry Interviews, Showmanship, and the BBQ Chicken Contest. Noah’s ISA Browns received a blue ribbon and got comments from the judge that he was very impressed how well his birds matched! We both agree he did a good job on his judging and showmanship classes considering it’s his first time ever trying poultry!!

Finally, for the BBQ Contest. The chicken BBQ contest always takes place during the 4H rabbit show so Noah’s never gotten a chance to compete before. This time doing poultry it opened up the opportunity for him to try it. He was a little hesitant at first but I encouraged him to try since he has been wanting to try to learn how to cook and if the goal is to come with rabbits again than who knows if he’d get the opportunity! Of course he’s so busy he didn’t get a chance to find a recipie til I came down to help him prepare for the fair😉😂 Anyways, he made his own dry rub and sauce from scratch, got some help and food safety tips from auntie Lisa, had drill Sargent sis grill him through 2 practice sessions, and the kid walked away with GRAND CHAMPION BBQ CHICKEN CONTEST!!!! 😱. I couldn’t believe it!! When this kid puts his mind to something he gets it done! Noah now has the chance to represent MN at a National BBQ Contest in Louisville, KY!! If only it was a month sooner and we could arrange it with the ARBA National Convention! Lol

Noah also tried performing arts for the first time this year. He received a blue ribbon for his guitar and vocal arrangement!

GOODJOB BUD! I’m so proud of you and I hope you keep achieving your goals!! Can’t wait for next year!

❤️ Tressa

Round Robin 2023

-To participate in Round Robin you must be Senior aged in 4H. You must also Receive Grand Champion (or reserve if the grand winner wants to pass it down etc) in your species showmanship exhibition. Then all the species top showmen compete and show every species to see who the overall species Showmanship champion is! Noah’s first year as a Senior aged 4Her was last year and he received Reserve for showmanship. This year his goal was to get Grand Champion so he could participate in Round Robin! Noah worked super hard and said he had lots of fun! He’s super proud of how well he did in swine (1st place) and sheep (2nd place)! Noah received 3rd place and it was only a few points that separated him and 2nd and 1st!! Congratulations to the Round Robin winners!! Noah hopes to be able to try it again next year!!

*Dusts off keyboard*

Hello rabbit friends!!

Sorry we’ve been MIA the last few months! Tressa- the social media guru of the fam has had some time off as she’s been working on her growing family!

Not only did we add a new human member to the family- Brinley, but we’ve also gone through a huge move. We are trying to adjust to having 2 little girls that are 1 year apart, and not to mention I have to get my gallbladder removed at the end of July!! Plus preparing for County fair man where’s the time going?!

Anyways enjoy these pictures of the buns and their awards from the Isanti Fun Show and the Sherburn county fun show!

**ALL HAVE FOUND HOMES**

Short eared bunnies available😂

Jk they’re kitties. Rosellas cat had kittens and now they and mama are looking for new homes. All are very playful and adorable!

Have been around dogs, and little kids. Started on litter box but still learning. We are moving in a week so I gotta find homes fast. They have only known inside life so prefer they go to indoor homes but they would probably be good at keeping your rabbit barn clear of mice as well😉

3 girls - 2 black, 1 tort
1 boy - black

Mama is an amazing cat. She absolutely adores Rosella and follows her everywhere. I would love for her to go to a home with little kids as she’s amazingly friendly and tolerant of them. Mama has to go after all the kittens have left and she will come with litter box, half a bigger bag of cat food, scratching post, and any other cat things I can find. Breaks my heart to let her go but where we are moving has strict pet policies so she will be happier somewhere else.

They are available in the Fargo, ND area. If you let me know by Wednesday afternoon I can possibly get them transport down to the Isanti, MN area.

Thanks everyone!

*Note most of these pictures were taken when they were about 4 weeks old. Can get updated pictures on request.

Had a fun road trip down to the Austin MN show yesterday! First show of the year and the only one we will get to for a little while we had lots of fun!

Flemish

Noah and I showed in the largest group of Flemish we have competed in yet! Lots of beautiful rabbits and tons of light greys!!

Flotsam placed towards the bottom of his class but he just turned senior so he has some growing to do yet.

Led, I don’t remember where he placed first show but second show he was sooo close to placing first in his class! the judge had a hard time deciding!

Iron Maiden did awesome!! Not a ton of competition in the steels but she got BOV for both shows! The first show her and a Sandy were neck and neck for BOB/BOS but we lost the draw again lol Really loving the way she’s coming along and the comments we get about her!!

Dwarfs

We brought EM1 who is still pretty young and needs to just grow into himself more for the sr buck class and another older sr buck. They both got good comments.

Halo got Best of Breed in the first show and was a very close second in her class in the second show! We just didn’t have much luck at winning the draws this weekend lol

The best part was visiting with our rabbit friends and making memories! Saw some pretty sights and I even let Noah drive me home!😳😬

I missed getting out to the rabbit shows. I can’t wait for the next one. Hopefully we can get some spring litters and the cuteness can hold me over til we can get out to more shows! Hahahah

Of course the one year we don’t make it to Rothsay the weather is beautiful and not -40 degrees! Lol

Noah placed 4th in his JV wrestling conferences today! We celebrated by playing with bunnies and planning spring breedings!! Hopefully we will have some successful Dwarf Litters coming and if anyone has a lead on a big b***d steel Flemish buck let us know😉😂 Anyways happy to have spent a beautiful day with family and I finally got out from behind the camera for a picture with Iron Maiden! Hahaha

Spring we are ready for yah! Bring on the bunny shows!!!

EH1- Goose. I LOVE THIS BUCK. If he wasn’t related to basically all of my upcoming breeding stock he would definitely be staying. I love his type. He’s got a nice thick head and he’s friendly! His bands are on the thinner side. I thought he was a black band but he looked like he may be a blue band looking at him today. We showed him once and the judge just wanted thicker eyebands on him.

He is ready for some new lady’s and excited to work! Might be a little too chubby for the show table but should still make an awesome brood buck!

MSRBA STATE SHOW 2022

JBF had so much fun at the state show this weekend at the Benton County Fairgrounds! It’s always great to catch up with friends and show off some rabbits!

The Saturday show had lots of competition. No big awards there. However, we had tons of fun and got some great feedback on our stock.

The Sunday show is when we started making some movement!

Flemish Giant Open
Led Zeppelin - BOB Show 2
Iron Maiden - BOS Show 1, BOS, Show 2

Dwarf Hotot Open
Albus- BOS Show 1
Halo- all weekend maintaining 2nd or 3rd in her class against some awesome Dwarfs. Hopefully she keeps growing in the right direction!

Finally to top it off my daughter Rosella got to join us at the end of the show where my mom and I swapped the rabbits and the baby before Rosella and I headed back up to Fargo.

All in all a pretty busy weekend but tons of fun and hope to carry the excitement over to the Cambridge show this weekend!
