Last weekend we let Ziggy do Air Retrieve, probably for the last time. Look how happy he looks. Extreme Vertical was always his favorite. Air Retrieve is a close second!

Xander's 7.43 second run, which earned him 4th place for Trial 1 at Richmond Dog Obedience Club's Fast CAT event today. He earned a 3rd place in Trial 2 with a 7.41 second time.
He really, really likes this game!

Xander competed in his very first sport this weekend. He is now a complete Fast CAT addict! This was his last and best run of the weekend. 100 yard dash in 7.44 seconds, which is a 27.49 mph run. He is definitely exciting to watch. LOL! He barked/growled at the bag and ran straight into the photographer who was laying on the ground.

Never a dull moment with this dog!

Maria and Bravo will be competing in their second Barn Hunt trial tomorrow at Merrimac Dog Training Club and will have samples of and for grabs. Make sure to keep an eye out!

The Pet Expo is this weekend in Hampton. Byron and Ziggy will be competing in Extreme Vertical this afternoon, and Big Air and Speed Retrieve tomorrow.

Byron will have VetriScience samples of Glycoflex and Composure to hand out. Make sure to get yours!

Ziggy will still be doing a few Big Air and Speed Retrieve jumps this year, but Extreme Vertical is a thing of the past. Ziggy will be 10 in April and he has 2 rebuilt knees. We have been looking for something fun and less demanding he could do and still have a "job". I think we found Ziggy's new passion!

This was his first introduction to Barn Hunt.

Yesterday we pulled a dog into our rescue from our friends at VBAC&AC and brought him home to be fostered at BARC HQ. 🥳

We have dubbed him Xander, and instead of creating a page just for him, we figured we would share him on our TBB page, since it's the off-season for dockdogs and Ziggy won't be showing off too much here. It can be all about Xander for a while.

This sweet boy was an owner surrender, so we were told he is 20 months old. He has been great and very well-balanced meeting other dogs of all sizes; even the snarky and reactive ones we tested him with at the shelter yesterday. He hasn't been introduced to our dogs yet, but I have a feeling that he and Bravo are going to be fast friends. They are the same age, temperament and energy level!

He is long and leggy, so maybe he has some Greyhound or Walker Hound in him. He certainly enjoyed sniffing his way through his first woodland walk this morning. 🤩 And that speckled nose!

Xander already knows how to sit on command, and he even plays fetch, brings the ball back and drops it on command. He also catches treats in the air, walks reasonably politely on-leash, and rides like a true gentleman in the car. We can't wait to work his brain and teach him lots of other fun and useful things.

He has his first vet appointment this afternoon with our friends at Nansemond Vet. He has yet to be heartworm tested, so we are holding our breath for negative results.

This guy is a true gem, and we are looking forward to getting to know him better.

Byron handed someone his phone to get pics of him and Ziggy in front of the Glycoflex dock at the Carolina DockDogs® at Downtown Graham event, but when he got to the truck to leave and looked through them, they were all black. Apparently the person had put their finger in front of the lens. Oops! Thank goodness Fetch 'N Photos got some great shots of Team Bionic Bully in action!

Bravo puppy's 3rd session off the dock. We'll start working on following the toy and not hesitating, but I think it's safe to say we may have us another dockdog on the team!

February came and went and we just got around to snagging some pics from KJ Photography from the Dockdogs Worlds of Pets Expo in Hampton, where Byron and Ziggy came away with an invite to Worlds for Ziggy's Speed Retrieve performance (which we regretfully declined).

Byron and Ziggy had a fun time at Bark at Noah's Ark this past weekend! Ziggy placed 6th in Extreme Vertical and 6th in Iron Dog. Byron also got to hang out with a previous Bully Advocate & Rescue Collective adoptee, Gidget: The Little Dog With Big Dreams,(pictured) who has a GREAT dockdogs family. We hope to see her jumping in the pool one day soon!

Byron and Ziggy had fun playing their favorite dockdogs games this past weekend at Woofstock. Here's Ziggy showing off his 3rd place medals for EV Cadet and SR Turbo, as well as his 2nd place medal for Iron Dog Warrior. Can't keep an old dog down! Eight years old and still going strong!

Ziggy's first dockdogs weekend of the year was beyond amazing! After his double HGE episodes earlier this year, and his very slow comeback from that, we were thinking that we would possibly have to retire him from his all-time favorite sport. We decided to just let Byron enter him in a single Big Air wave on Saturday, with an EV entry later in the day. EV is definitely where his heart is, and boy did he prove that to everyone watching!

Ziggy made his grabs in 2 inch increments from 5'0" all the way up to a Personal Best of 5'10"!!! (His previous PB in competition was 5'6" 2 years ago.) He double missed 6'. Byron was walking away elated with Ziggy's amazing performance, when he was called back. The dog after him missed her grab, so it turned into a jump-off to win. Both dogs missed at 5'11", so the bumper was dropped down to 5'10". The other dog missed, but Ziggy made the grab for the win!

At 8 years old Ziggy jumped TEN times and grabbed 5'10", not once, but twice! Maria was SO bummed not to have been there to see that, and was hoping a video would have surfaced by now, but so far, no such luck. Here is a phone capture someone shared with us (photographer unknown).

Ziggy also won BA Amateur Finals and placed second in his division in Speed Retrieve.

Overall, not a bad weekend for a senior dog with 2 bum knees! We are !
