We have never received even 1 application for Wolfgang! 🙈🥹

How is that even possible?
We know his face throws people off at first but how can you not see past that for the wonderful dog he is. 🥰
Maybe with age his fur/hair will grow in.
Maybe not.
But one thing is for sure, this boy is a wonderful dog. ❤️

✅ He’s a sweet, goofy boy who sometimes thinks he’s a lap dog.
✅ He’s house trained, sleeps all night.
✅ He’s great with other dogs of all ages and sizes.
✅ He loves his toys and chew hooves.
✅ He walks good on a leash.
✅ He loves humans but isn’t needy.
✅ He’s good in the car and on atvs.
✅ He loves the beach and exploring.

Older pups means no puppy stage, he’s long over that.

Quirks:

*Gets excited when he sees livestock and talks loudly to them.

*Very excitable around cats.

**A note here: Farley's nails were much worse than this when he landed in the shelter. Kind staff and his shelter foster are working on slowly cutting them to a length that is kinder for him. If you cut too much nail at once, after the quick has grown so far out, there can be a lot of pain and bleeding. We appreciate that so many people care!

PERMANENT Old Dog Haven FOSTER/HOSPICE HOME NEEDED:
(in W. Washington state or Portland, OR only)

"Farley" is a neutered male chihuahua mix, who weighs 11 pounds. This little guy was evidently born with some immune-system deficiencies. He's had some blood issues in the past, but now suffers from polyarthritis: inflammation in most of his joints, as you can see by his misshapen lower legs and feet. His left knee was repaired a few years ago but that repair failed no doubt due to the immune-system problems. He has a longterm crusty ear that is likely due to immune reactions as well. He's handling all this very well, gets around slowly but can manage one step at a time, but he's shy with new people and situations. He gets along fine with the dogs of all sizes and cats in his shelter foster home; his potty habits are a bit questionable but that may have a medical cause. He is a sweet soul who will really need that "assisted living and hospice" home that Old Dog Haven aims to provide.

Old Dog Haven has no facility or shelter, every dog we take into our care goes into a private home-a home that has been thoroughly vetted. There's a process to become a forever foster for us that includes a home visit which is why sending dogs outside of W. Washington or Portland, OR is not possible. We know this is frustrating to some but please remember, we have the dogs' best interest in mind and hope those of you who live outside of our foster area will still share our plea because you may reach someone who can foster for us!

We appreciate that so many of you want to help senior dogs. If you are not in our area, check with your local rescues and shelters about fostering or adopting. There are senior dogs (and dogs of all ages) in need everywhere.

Meet Aurora! This pretty girl is estimated to be about 1.5 years old & weighs about 60 lbs. Aurora is house trained & does really well in her crate! She is an adaptable dog, and seems to adjust her play style to match her playmate. Aurora is a sweet & curious dog who enjoys a good couch potato nap as much as she does a good play session! She is still learning how to play with toys, but she does love a good squeaky toy! Aurora has gotten along with all of the dogs she’s met in rescue, and she has even done well meeting the resident cats! Aurora hasn’t previously lived with kids that we know of, so our recommendation is kids over 6 just due to her size.

Aurora is a great girl, and she’d love a forever family. Her only bad habit is jumping up when she’s excited, but we’ve been working on that & with consistency she is getting better! Meet Teddy! Let’s start by saying Teddy has been in the shelter for over 4 years and we are so excited to finally give Teddy the chance he deserves to find a loving family! Teddy has stunning amber eyes that stand out against his sleek black coat. He is approximately 7 years old, 60lbs lab terrier mix. Teddy is happy-go-lucky, with a playful spirit. He gets along ok with male dogs but he is a ladies man at heart. He is a people pleaser and one of his favorite things to do is to play fetch. He is also a superb soccer player! He gets very excited when it is time for him to go for a walk, and he walks very well on a leash. Teddy got his name from being a big ol’ teddy bear and his amazing attitude and joy for life after being in the shelter for so long is a testament to how amazing dogs are. This deserving boy has waited a long time for you to give him his greatest wish -- a home of his own.

Meet Scruffy! This sweet, loving guy is a 1-year-old, 70-pound bundle of joy. Our best guess is that he's a poodle/doodle mix, and he's all about fun! Scruffy is one of the happiest pups we know, always with a smile on his face. He's potty trained, kennel trained, and loves going for car rides.

Scruffy has a particular fondness for plush toys, carrying them around and even taking one to bed. He's a very active boy who loves playing with other dogs, and if they play chase with him, he’s in heaven.

After burning off his energy, Scruffy settles down well and will gladly snuggle up on the couch after a long day. He would thrive in an active home or one with another playful dog.

Scruffy is a lovable guy who enjoys the company of all people, kids, dogs, and dog-savvy cats. His forever family will need to keep working on his manners, as he jumps when excited, but he listens very well to commands. Scruffy is the sweetest guy who would thrive in most homes.
