Chief is a 28-year-old paint horse we rescued from the sale barn loose pen.

Chief getting some turnout in the snow.. He usually gets in two good rolls to get rid of the itchies with the long hair.. He is putting on weight nicely . Getting a little more active each day.

Chief day one at the Fremont Nebraska horse sale. I had not planned on bringing a horse home. But my heart said I couldn't turn my back on him and walk away. He needed help.

Chief visited Nebraska Equine and had his teeth done and a check-up... Poor Chief has had a hard life. As you can see his ears have been frozen off on the tips. He does not have any top incisor teeth. He had a fractured bottom incisor that needed tending too. And he had some very sharp molars. My vet believed he had never had his teeth attended to.

This photo is just a day short of 2 weeks with us. He was out all day today to enjoy the nice weather and was a muddy mess from rolling and rolling and rolling. So he had his first good bath today.
