Today's post is a very important one. I am not posting this to bash or speak down on anyone however it is something that needs to be addressed. Let's talk about MBD. Metabolic Bone Disease is unfortunately fairly common, it can be seen in reptiles like Bearded Dragons, Leopard Geckos, Crested Geckos, Chameleons, Tortoises, and other reptiles. This disease is mainly caused by not providing calcium and/or UVB. It can also be caused by improper diet. All of this plays a major role in your reptile's health. MBD can cause lifelong issues like bowed legs, deformed spine/ribs, difficulty standing/supporting themselves, and an overall weakness in the animal. Once MBD has developed you cannot reverse it, you can however keep it from getting worse by providing the proper care. Research is so important to do before getting an animal and with the internet at our fingertips this is something that should not be happening as often as it does. You as the owner must take the responsibility to research and learn how to properly take care of them. We of course are happy to help with any questions you have on your animals however we can't be there 24/7 to do everything. The Bearded Dragon pictured below was surrendered to us a few weeks ago and is one of three we've received this year with MBD. It's a topic I wanted to talk about and get more people aware of the outcome of improper care.

Peter Pan was found yesterday, August 24, near Jonetta St & W Holmes Rd (38109). He appears to be well-groomed and clean, so we think someone is out there missing him!

Friendly boy here was attempting a game of Frogger on I40 between exits 82 and 83, and thankfully did not become a hood ornament. Intact male, no collar or chip, but has an indentation in his fur from a recently worn collar.
