Purrrrtricia has recently moved from JCAS to the Adoption Center at PetSmart Ann Arbor. Volunteers have said she’s not super happy about the move. 😾 We do not want to stress her out and move her again. Soooo, I did a thing. After being in my office for 2 days, I didn’t have the heart to leave her at the shelter tonight knowing with her medical needs up in the air, her stay with us may be extended. (Plus, she was looking for me when I left the office). I didn’t give my significant other a heads up that we were having a house guest tonight and when we came home, he had a mop in his hands. (True story lol) It was so sad, she instantly tried to run away. Thankfully, he’s been with me long enough to know and recognize to put the mop down, sit down and let her come to him. Then he pulled out the big moves, fresh turkey, and hand fed her. She calmed right down with him. After she checked everyone and everything out and settled into her bed, he came back to visit her and give belly rubs. She not only welcomed it, she LOVED it! Bond and trust formed.

This just reminds me of how we really try to make every pet and family meet their match. ❤️ We understand this girl and adjust to her needs. As we learn more about her, we can share with potential adopters. We really try our best to be careful and considerate about our pets and make sure they are in the home that will help them thrive, not just survive.

Max is a precious 7 year old American Blue Heeler. He was seized as part of a cruelty case in Hillsdale County and housed at JCAS until his court date. He is now officially seeking a retirement home! He has a tumor which cannot be removed due to the location, but he’s a pretty spry guy and has been very quiet during his stay here. We could picture him roaming the fields with his person during the day and resting by his /her recliner in the evening. That would be his ideal life. ❤️

🚨MSU UPDATE🚨 THEY RECOMMEND SURGICAL FIXATION. THE ESTIMATE IS 5500-6500. She can get in Monday. Can we do this?

UPDATE: There were so many comments about this sweet girl and her leg, we thought it would be easier just to make one post here to keep everyone in the loop. Thank you all for being so generous and willing to help pay for surgery, if that’s the best option for her.

We emailed her X-rays to MSU Orthopedic Surgery Department. We provided her age/weight & asked for their recommendation on whether to do surgery or amputate. If surgery is recommended, we asked for an estimate and appointment availability.

We’ll update here once we’ve received a response.
