Lions and tigers and PUPPIES, oh my! We have puppies coming out of our ears and various other locations! If you've been looking to add a new 4-legged best buddy to the family, who is young enough to grow up with their human siblings, or you just prefer puppy breath to grown-up dog burps- we can help! We have a whole roster of babies who are looking for fantastic families and their adoption fee is only $80 with an approved application! We are open 12-4 pm Tuesday through Saturday for adoptions and you're welcome to meet everyone we have available and see who best fits you and your family. We try to offer breed guesses, but all of our current pups are mixed breeds who happen to be 100% precious! Their specific info is under their individual pic.

Saturday shout out to two of the best ladies we know! Jenny and Cheryl (and their hubbies) are our most active volunteers, and we want to brag on them. They collect and bring us supplies. They foster, adopt, walk/ bathe dogs, help us with events, and let us vent on the heavy days. They're simply fantastic and put full-time work ethic into an unpaid position. Thank you guys so much for EVERYTHING you do!

Bumblebee is confused. She is wondering how she is THIS cute and still hasn't been adopted! She's a 4-5 month old girl who loves everyone she meets. The beagle ears give us a hint at her mix but she's very mutty. We're guesstimating her to be 40-50 lbs when she's grown, which is the perfect size to fit that empty spot on your couch... She's outgoing and confident with people and other dogs, and has finished her needed medical care. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and heartworm-negative. If you've been looking for an energetic pup to add to your home, you should come check her out!

We know Halloween is over, but for those of you who appreciate some spooky stuff all year long... This is VooDoo! He's outgoing, chatty, loves to play, and will sass you when he thinks you aren't paying attention to him. He's a young adult and appears to be some sort of shepherd/chupacabra mix. He is a 100% certified sweet boy though and is a solid medium size that makes him a great family fit, even in smaller homes. He's working on his crate training and leash manners and has finished his medical protocol. He's neutered, vaccinated, heartworm-negative, and ready to bust out of this joint! His adoption fee is $80.

Scully is a super young adult lab mix with the DREAMIEST brown eyes to match his gooey personality. He loves absolutely everyone and would be great with any family dynamic. He's sweet and snuggly but loves to bounce and play when the urge strikes him. He's been great with other dogs and exceptionally friendly with the kids he's met at the shelter. He's working on his crate training and leash manners so he won't embarrass you on your adventures in public. He's neutered, heartworm negative, vaccinated, dewormed, and current on his monthly preventatives. This boy is 50ish lbs of the sleekest, softest, most sincere lovin' you will ever get! His adoption fee is $80 and he's available now.

We try to be super positive on most of our posts, but the reality of this business is that there are hard decisions that have to be made and we don't live in a perfect world where shelters have infinite space for every dog that needs help. These 4 dogs are at risk of behavioral euthanasia if they can't find a home or rescue and get out of the shelter. Every one of them is a GOOD dog who is NOT doing well in a shelter environment. They are all working dog mixes with high drive and higher-than-average energy levels. Months of sitting in a concrete cell are taking their toll. All of them go out to play with other dogs every day. All of them are great with people. They're just the ones in the group who need a bit of specialized care. BBQ and Holy Moly (top left, bottom right) need active homes with a large yard to run around and burn off their zoomies. Puddin (bottom left) needs someone familiar with heeler temperament and drive to give him the training and job he needs to feel happy and useful. Captain Jack (top right) needs a home where he can be the only dog because he doesn't like to share his snacks and food. None of them are "bad dogs", they're just our little oddballs who need some extra love. If you're looking for a new addition to your family and think you'd fit the criteria for one of these guys, please come meet them. If you know any reputable rescues who might have space available, please tag them. We have no pull fee for 501c3 groups. Even if you can't adopt, please share this post like their lives depend upon it, because they do.

Hillbilly is an incredibly handsome fella who is the perfect size to be an adventure buddy. He's 40ish lbs and around knee-high, so he'd fit great in any vehicle as your shotgun rider. He's not super confident with strangers but warms up quickly. He's been good with all the dogs he's met here at the shelter and is one of the coolest-looking guys we've had in a while. He's good on a leash and is working on his crate training to have an easier transition into his forever home. He's neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and current on flea and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $80 with an approved application.

You know that kid you went to school with who had a good heart but just did the absolute DUMBEST stuff because they were misunderstood? Well, meet Puddin- his village called because their idiot is missing. He is a young adult who is EVERYTHING a heeler is known for. He is hard-headed and stubborn, strong-willed and highly driven, goofy and protective. He needs a home with heeler people. If you are "heeler people", you know what we mean. If you've never had a heeler before- DO YOUR RESEARCH. He would be the BEST partner for someone willing to give him the structure and training he needs to be his best self. He does well with dogs more submissive than him, or bigger dogs willing to put him in his place without hurting him. If you're looking for a handsome, headstrong fella in your life- Puddin might be your new best buddy.

*He would not do well with cats or small livestock and should not be considered for a home with small children because he is very mouthy.

This majestic beast is Odell. Odell is just as much of a front porch sittin', country fella as his name makes him sound. If Odell was human, he'd be the old man drinking coffee in your local 4-table diner who sounded like Sam Elliot. The one who had seen everything and had a story to tell you about it. Odell is around 7 years old and is 70 lbs worth of pure affection without a single ounce of intellect. His brain is SMOOOOOOTH, with no wrinkles. The thoughts just slide right off. He's low energy and low demand. He just wants to be around his people. He follows you around at the speed of a turtle running through peanut butter and takes every opportunity to sit on your feet to encourage you to pet him. He's great with people of all sizes, gets along well with every dog he's met here and doesn't even seem interested in cats. He's got the teeniest bit of an underbite and a smooshy bottom lip that reminds us of that guy we've all met who packs a fat wad of chewing to***co in his mouth. Overall, it doesn't get any better than Odell. He's neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and ready for the love of his life to come find him. His adoption fee is $80 and he's available now.

This gorgeous shepherd mix baby has been named Frito (because she smells like a corn chip) and was surrendered after months of living tied up outside. She has a pretty advanced case of demodex mange and needs a 4 to 6 week foster while her skin heals up. She's SUPER affectionate with people and has done fine with friendly dogs. She's not a fan of kitties. Can anyone give her a temporary place to crash? We cover all medical care and will provide her crate, blankets, food, toys, etc. the entire time she's with you. If you are willing and able to help Frito live her best life please shoot us a message so we can get you a foster application.

This gorgeous lady is Pepsi. She's been with us for MONTHS waiting for the right family to see her. She watched all of her puppies get adopted and she's been left behind. She's afraid she's been forgotten about. She is scared here at the shelter so she isn't the most outgoing pup in the building when people walk by. She cowers in the back of her kennel, so the people always just keep walking. Once she gets used to someone, she follows them around like Sam followed Frodo- to the ends of the earth. She ADORES her tribe and would be the BEST girl for someone willing to win her trust with soft hands, ear rubs, and play dates with other pups. Did we mention she's great with other dogs? She turns into a social butterfly with them and wants to play tag and wrestle like an over-caffeinated toddler. She's around 55 lbs and 3 years old. She's spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and ready to GO. Her adoption fee has been discounted to $40 with an approved application.

Gizmo and Luna are 2 of our longest running residents here at the shelter and would LOVE to go home. They were surrendered together and are a bonded pair that are good with other cats, dogs and Children. They wanted me to tell you that you're never too old to razzle dazzle and they've still got plenty of playful in their system, even though they're mature enough to make a good lap warmer. Their adoption fee has been discounted to $40 for the pair as long as the prospective home is cleared for adoption. They're available for meet and greet anytime during our adoption hours. 12-4 pm Tuesday through Saturday.

Marvin and Ray are the two shy kids in the class and are very nervous at the shelter but are BEST buddies and love to play with their babies. They would both make lovely pets and would do great in homes with another dog to help them settle in and be more comfortable. They're both sweethearts that attach themselves to their human and just follow you around while you do your thing. Neither are loud and "barky" and both are crate trained and mostly house broken. They're tired of being overlooked and "picked last for dodge ball" and would love for someone to see how great they are! Both are fully vetted, heartworm negative, and ready to go home!

***ADOPTED TOGETHER*** Chipmunk and Batman are an adorable bonded set of brothers that have been waiting WAY too long for a home of their own. Like most twins, their personalities are a little different. One is super outgoing and playful and one is more relaxed and chill. They're both super affectionate ands love everyone. They're litterbox trained, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and health tested. If you're looking for 2 new best friends then you need to come meet these handsome fellas!

Didn't know we had beauty queens at the shelter did you? Well, we don't really but if we did it would be Faberge! This lady is STUNNING and so affectionate. Her cream and chocolate coat remind me of s'mores and it's the season for them! She adores people of all ages but would prefer to be the only kitty in the home. Who wouldn't want to be greeted by those beautiful blue eyes after work every day?! She's fully vetted and available for adoption!

We've got two mini panthers that are way too used to being outdoor bad boys to ever be happy in a house and they're not fans of kids being all up in their business. They need a shop or barn that they can guard and patrol. Their adoption fee is only $20 and they're fully vetted!

Hey everybody! We've had so many wonderful people offer to foster but we're still busting at the seams! We need 7 fosters on Monday/ Tuesday so that we can open up intake space for kitties in need. There are 3 separate groups of 3-5 and then 3 single babies. We provide all needed supplies and they'll come back to us on May 24th to finish out their vetting and start hunting for new homes. They're just needing somewhere safe and indoors to hang out for 10 days. If you can help please let us know!

Sometimes adoptions don't work and it's nobody's fault, but we mean it when we say we'll take the Animal back. Even if that means we have to drive across the state to do it. Knoxville and back in 10 hours to fetch our girl. Ms. Josie was excited to be back on familiar ground and is available for adoption. Again. Josie is a boxer mix, 3 years old, fully vetted, LOOOOOVES people, will fetch anything you're willing to throw, crates beautifully, good with kids and more submissive dogs of similar size. We just discovered that her energy level is a bit much for some older folks and she needs active younger people that want to help her burn off her zoomies.

ADOPTED TODAY!!!!!! 😻 Somebody needs Rick. One of y'all- you need him. Rick is a 9 month old frat boy that throws ragers in his kennel, all by his lonesome. He doesn't require ANY help to have an absolute smashing good time- as you can tell from the state of his kennel a whopping 3 hours after it was cleaned. He wears himself out (pic in comments of his nap in the aftermath of his latest throw down), and would do a fabulous job of keeping your lap warm in the chilly weather we have coming. The flip side is that Rick needs you too. He's been here for 6 months. He's grown up in the shelter and has never experienced couch cuddling, having his own scratching post or climbing tower, or having a person whose eyes light up just for him at the end of the day. He seen more than 300 cats get adopted while he's been waiting for his own happy ending. He's a chonky boy that keeps his spirits up and is a super cheerful guy but seeing him be passed over again and again is breaking our hearts. If you're looking to add a new feline friend to your household, please consider Rick to fill that cat shaped hole in your heart. He's very much available and would love to go home.

****UPDATE!!! Boo has left the building! Boo has been adopted by an awesome family! Thank you guys for sharing him so he can have a happy ever after!!!**** We have a sad one today. This is Boo. Boo is 17 years old and just lost his human. Boo desperately needs another human that's willing to let him live out however long he has left in an indoor home with lots of love and snacks. He's super affectionate and fully vetted. Senior cats do not do well in a shelter for many reasons and his risk of getting sick here (which would most likely be fatal) is very high because his immune system is not very strong at his age. He likely only has a few months left and we would HATE for his last memories to be of a cage after living in a loving home his whole life. If your heart and home have room for a 9 pound bundle of snuggles, please reach out. Boo (and us) would be VERY appreciative. *Adoption fee is waived for an approved adopter.
