The crested gecko (Correlophus ciliatus), or eyelash gecko, was believed to be extinct until it was rediscovered in 1994. Native to southern New Caledonia, these geckos are now among the most popular pet geckos in the world. Like many species of reptiles, these geckos are proving to be quite long-lived animals.

Ever wondered how we sex tarantulas? Utilizing the molts we look for a spermetheca (female reproductive organs) between the top two book lungs. Obviously the smaller the tarantula = the harder it is to examine. We start by moistening the molt with warm water. Then gently opening it with tweezers, toothpicks, or paintbrushes. Females have spermetheca. Males do not. This video demonstrates a very clear obvious female. For size reference, those are needle point tweezers.

Xenesthis immanis also known as the Columbian lesser black tarantula known for their striking coloring and fairly large size. Today we are pairing these two again. Last pairing didn't go so well. In contrast, today's pairing was fast and smooth.
