Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone !!!

12/22/2024

I am sponsored just in time for the holidays! So my adoption fee is FREE! My paws are crossed that I get a home of my own for Christmas, it is all I asked Santa for.

My name is Bonnie, and I'm looking for a special place to call home for my golden years. I am 11 years old and the sweetest girl I promise.

I'm an old girl with a gentle spirit who knows the value of love and companionship. I may be a bit seasoned, but I still have a twinkle in my eye and a heart full of curiosity! I was found in the woods by a kind hunter, and now I’m ready to make memories with you.

I absolutely love spending time outside—there's nothing better than feeling the sun on my fur and the breeze in my ears! While I enjoy my walks and sniffing around, I also appreciate those quiet moments curled up with my humans, soaking up all the cuddles I can get.

I would thrive in a calm home with older children who understand that gentle souls like me sometimes need a little extra patience and love. I'm looking for a hospice adoption, so if you're ready to give a sweet senior like me a loving place where I can enjoy my final chapter, I’d love to meet you! Come see me Monday the 23rd from 12-4:30!

Debunking the Myth: Old Dogs Do Not Wander Off to Die Alone

As pet owners, we often hear stories or anecdotes about old dogs wandering off to die alone, leaving pet parents worried and perpetuating a widespread myth. However, it’s important to separate fact from fiction and shed light on the truth behind the notion.

1. Understanding the Aging Process:As dogs age, their physical and cognitive abilities can decline, affecting their senses of sight, smell, and hearing. While these changes may make them more susceptible to getting lost, it’s crucial to remember that their intention is not to wander off intentionally to find a place to die.
2. Potential Reasons for Wandering:Older dogs may be more prone to wander due to various reasons, including confusion, disorientation, impaired memory, or a decline in their ability to perceive familiar surroundings. They might become easily distracted, disoriented, or forgetful, leading them on unintentional journeys away from home.
3. Health Issues and Increased Vulnerability:Senior dogs may also develop health issues that contribute to their wanderlust. Conditions like cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS) or age-related cognitive decline can cause disorientation and increase the likelihood of wandering. Additionally, underlying pain, discomfort, or anxiety can prompt them to seek relief or find solace in a different environment.
4. The Responsible Pet Owner’s Role:It’s important for pet owners to be vigilant and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their aging companions.

a. Supervision and Restriction:Avoid leaving senior dogs unattended in potentially unsafe areas, such as unfenced yards, open spaces, or unfamiliar surroundings. Close supervision helps prevent accidental wandering and reduces the risk of dangerous situations.

b. Identification and Microchipping:Make sure your dog wears a collar with visible identification and a tag containing updated contact information. Additionally, consider having your pet microchipped, as it serves as a reliable form of identification if they ever go missing.

c. Regular Veterinary Check-Ups:Keep up with your dog’s routine vet visits to monitor their overall health, address any cognitive changes, and manage potential underlying conditions. Early detection and treatment can prevent or slow down cognitive decline and improve their quality of life.

d. Environmental Adaptation:Create a safe and comfortable environment for your senior dog. Minimize potential hazards, establish routine and familiarity within the home, and make necessary adaptations to accommodate their sensory and mobility needs.

1. The Importance of Early Intervention:If you notice any behavioral changes, signs of anxiety, confusion, or increasing mental decline in your senior dog, consult your veterinarian. They can provide guidance, recommend interventions, or suggest strategies to manage your dog’s condition effectively.

It’s essential to debunk the myth that old dogs wander off to die alone. Contrary to this notion, senior dogs may experience age-related changes in their senses and cognition, leading to unintentional wandering. As responsible pet owners, we should prioritize the safety and well-being of our aging companions through proper supervision, identification, veterinary care, and environmental adaptation. By dispelling this myth and spreading awareness, we can better care for our older dogs and ensure their twilight years are filled with love, security, and companionship. If your senior dog goes missing, an immediate and exhaustive physical search must be done to locate them.

Revvy is home safe and warm !!!
8 days ago Mike took his three dogs for a walk on Timberdoodle trail in Marshburg Pa. Revvy has been walking on this Trail since he was a puppy, but for whatever reason he decided to run away this day, most likely chasing after a deer. Billiejo Ruttan Revvy's mom stayed at the trailhead until midnight that night hoping that he would return, but he did not. The next day he was sighted on a power line not far from there under a pine tree where he got scared when the people called out to him and he ran off. Not too long after that he was seen in front of the trailhead sitting on the road. A lady stopped and chased him off the road so he didn't get hit and that was the last we'd seen of him for 8 days. Signs went up immediately . Cameras and food plots went up where the sightings were. Mike and Billiejo set up crates with all of his blankets and scented items in them, but he never returned or showed up on camera . Thermal drones went up twice, a tracking dog went out for several hours as well the next day and nothing 😔 I will say we were all getting very worried with the snow and the temperatures dropping into the teens. Today my phone rang from one of the signs that I posted and said are you still looking for a dog and I said YES !!!!! The woman by the name of Lynn who lives right on Route 59 said I think I have him in my garage, he was in here eating garbage and I shut the door. I couldn't hang up the phone fast enough to call Billiejo to get over there to confirm that it was Revvy. Sitting on pins and needles, I finally got the call and she screamed into the phone IT'S HIM and we both screamed and I jumped in the car and drove over there to meet this beautiful boy !!! I would just like to commend Billiejo, Mike and Sierra ,Billiejo's daughter for their love and dedication to their dogs, these people were out from daylight to dark every day trying to get a sighting and checking the food plots and knocking on doors and doing everything they could to find their baby. Like I told them, if I was a dog I would definitely want them as parents !!! We would also like to thank Maximus McCullough and his son for bringing out their tracking dog Flash and volunteering their time to try to help find Revvy. Also thank you to Brandon Anderson from Anderson Ariel inspections who just happened to be in town from Knoxville Tennessee for hunting season and had his thermal drone with him, what are the odds of that? A huge thank you to Mike and Lynn, the homeowners who had the good sense to shut that door quickly to trap Revvy in the garage. The biggest thank you goes to God and everyone who said prayers for Revvy. I don't know how much more of these temperatures he could have survived. He seems in pretty good shape he has lost a lot of weight in just 8 days just trying to stay warm and he may have a little frostbite on his ears but all in all he's very happy to be home with Mom Dad and his two siblings welcome home handsome, we can all sleep well tonight !! 🥹❤️🐾

So as most of you know all of the work that we do trapping lost dogs and cats for people is done at no charge by us . We have been doing this for 7 years now and other than the donations that we get all of the money comes right out of our pockets . So several Trappers from the New York and Pennsylvania area have teamed up to place an order for new traps because our traps take a beating out in the field ,they get bent up and then they do not work so well and when you're talking about saving an animal everything has to be just so. So please consider donating so that we can update and add different sizes of traps to our inventory. Thank you so much !! Please share post ty. ❤️🐾

🐾🐾 WE NEED SIGHTINGS !!! PLEASE SHARE POST🐾🐾

Please anyone in the Marshburg Pa area , please keep your eyes open for Revvy. He went missing on the Timberdoodle trail 3 days ago. There were a couple of sightings near the trail 2 days ago. If you see him, please do not call out to him or chase him, just get low to the ground and talk softly to him and see if he will come to you. If not just retreat and report the sighting to Billiejo Ruttan @ 814-366-4188 or message us directly. Thank you !!
