Welcome! I’m Melissa Hughes. I’ve been sitting for & grooming pets for friends & family for years now. I’ve always loved animals. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a vet so badly, but my allergies were ridiculous. Thankfully they aren’t as bad now (& medication is so much better). I’m finally getting to live life surrounded by animals, & I love it!
I work outside the home 3 days a week, but my work & personal schedules are flexible enough to ensure pets get regular potty breaks. I have tethered lines I put every dog on to do their business, if not on a leash. There’s also a fenced area more suitable for smaller dogs.
When I’m home, most dogs run free with mine indoors. If there’s a behavioral issue, I have the space to keep any apart that require that. But I always try to regularly socialize them & give them the attention they need & deserve!
Since 2023, we’ve delivered and raised two litters. The mama (a 7 lb. Shih-tzu) & one of her pups live with us. My daughter & son-in-law live in the basement & have one of her babies, too. We also have a 5 lb. senior yorkie with special needs.
Please let me know what kind of care your dog or cat will need ahead of time, so I can refresh my knowledge & learn more if needed. I’m comfortable & experienced giving medications, including shots. I also like to know when they eat & how they sleep (bed, couch, crate, etc.) to be sure they’re comfy with as few interruptions to their routine as possible. If you’d like to schedule a free visit to warm your dog up to the place, that can be arranged!
