You’re gonna notice some changes over the next 6 months.. NEW YEAR, NEW ORGANIZATION 🫶🏼

We’ve been gate keeping a pretty big secret around here. Starting July of this year, we will be operating as a wildlife rehabilitation organization! 🥳🥳

We have many rehabber friends that have been drowning the last few years & our mission is to step up to help them with any overflow.

That said, we will not do any intake on any wildlife until we are LICENSED and APPROVED by DNR, so it will be pretty quiet here til later this summer. There is a lengthy process between testing and facility inspection which is our priority. The next few months will give us the opportunity to take the time to get those things addressed so we can open as a compliant organization.

Any and all donations from January-June will still be tax deductible through Poe’s Purpose and kept in a reserve in the business account in the meantime. These funds will be critical to us ensuring we have everything we need to open as scheduled in July.

We cannot wait to service our community in the coming years and help to share the burden with our local, established wildlife rehabbers. 💞💞

As it is the holiday season & we are quickly approaching the new year, I would love to take a moment to express the gratitude our team at Poe’s Purpose Small Animal Sanctuary has felt for our supporters over the last 6 years through various seasons & changes. When we filed as a nonprofit, we did so as an animal education organization as to support our community in a unique way. As one chapter closes, another opens. This week we had a bittersweet moment of accepting our final intake into our sanctuary.

On December 31st, we will be closing the doors here and transitioning to something even more incredible. Beginning January 1st, all donations received will be going towards our newest venture and will still be tax deductible. Can’t wait to share that with you all!

On that note: we are accepting donations through then to support the critters here at the sanctuary. They will always have a place with us, we are just transitioning away from domestic animal education! 🫶🏼

Our boy has his implant & a good report from his bloodwork. He did show some very early signs of kidney disease but the hope is the hormone implant will keep the adrenal disease from progressing…we’re so happy because we are not sure how long it went untreated before he came to us! We could really use donations to get the sanctuary account back up 💸

We rarely get any “firsts” as far as education & intake goes. But here is a new first for us… meet this lil guy who landed in our care today. So far we’ve figured out he is FULL of silly personality. Like truly the biggest goof. Despite his appearance he seems pretty healthy. His skin is healthy & his teeth look great! We suspect advanced, untreated adrenal disease which contributes to his lack of hair over most of his body & being a tad underweight. At minimum this looks like some bloodwork to confirm kidney function and hopefully good results so he can receive a hormone implant and give him some more time with us. We are tickled to have such a spunky little friend here!! Obsessed may be an understatement. 🫣

Looking for placement *not located at the sanctuary*

Good afternoon, I apologize that it has taken so long to get back to you. We have 2 female 1 yr old Guinea Pigs, the black one is Athena and the brown one is Artemis. They have a large cage that will go with them as well as other items. My daughter is unable to give them the care they deserve since she is now working and going to college full time, and we just adopted 3 kittens and they try to get at them too often so we have to keep the door closed or the cage covered all day. We would like to see them go to a good home. Thanks for any help you can give in finding a home for these babies. We live in Loganville Ga.

Meet Tater Tot. Our newest intake!
We rarely approve owner surrender but this one comes with a good lesson. His owner separated from her partner and instead of taking accountability for her pets… she left them all behind upon the breakup. We of course don’t know every side to this story, so we do our best not to speculate. We are happy he was connected to us, because he was as left in a home that was no longer educated on his care. He generously came with his full neuter donated by the partner with enough notice to ensure we could accommodate him. I think that speaks loads for this person’s character and we always love seeing people want what is best for their pets… even if they weren’t theirs to begin with🫶🏼

We spent our morning Commerce Middle School today at their annual AG Day!
Our boys Thor & Loki were right at home. They’ve been “at headquarters” since last week with school breaking for summer! They LOVE going to school. They were living their very best lives. Smiley came along too but somehow I did not catch a snapshot of him!!🫣

Just our annual “don’t give bunnies to kids for Easter” post🐰

Would you consider letting your 4 year old commit to a German Shepherd puppy as a sole caretaker for their lifetime?? The comparison may seem extreme but through personal experience my dog is significantly more low key. And that says a lot, cause she is wild!! 😂
Did you know rabbits can live 10+ years? That’s longer than the average age of a GSD🩷 (pic of our girl for tax)

If it isn’t a family commitment, it shouldn’t be considered. Bunnies are exotic species and require a pretty substantial commitment.

She broke her leg and she was released instead of treated. Or maybe she was injured post release but either way… rabbits are often viewed as disposable. Many species of domesticated critters are viewed this way including cats & dogs. If you commit to an animal you need to hold yourself accountable to research their proper care.
