Meet Tater Tot. Our newest intake!
We rarely approve owner surrender but this one comes with a good lesson. His owner separated from her partner and instead of taking accountability for her pets… she left them all behind upon the breakup. We of course don’t know every side to this story, so we do our best not to speculate. We are happy he was connected to us, because he was as left in a home that was no longer educated on his care. He generously came with his full neuter donated by the partner with enough notice to ensure we could accommodate him. I think that speaks loads for this person’s character and we always love seeing people want what is best for their pets… even if they weren’t theirs to begin with🫶🏼

We spent our morning Commerce Middle School today at their annual AG Day!
Our boys Thor & Loki were right at home. They’ve been “at headquarters” since last week with school breaking for summer! They LOVE going to school. They were living their very best lives. Smiley came along too but somehow I did not catch a snapshot of him!!🫣

Just our annual “don’t give bunnies to kids for Easter” post🐰

Would you consider letting your 4 year old commit to a German Shepherd puppy as a sole caretaker for their lifetime?? The comparison may seem extreme but through personal experience my dog is significantly more low key. And that says a lot, cause she is wild!! 😂
Did you know rabbits can live 10+ years? That’s longer than the average age of a GSD🩷 (pic of our girl for tax)

If it isn’t a family commitment, it shouldn’t be considered. Bunnies are exotic species and require a pretty substantial commitment.

She broke her leg and she was released instead of treated. Or maybe she was injured post release but either way… rabbits are often viewed as disposable. Many species of domesticated critters are viewed this way including cats & dogs. If you commit to an animal you need to hold yourself accountable to research their proper care.

2nd Bunny intake of 2024 comes to us from NEGAS 🩷

She’s a silly, very inquisitive, sassy lionhead and is already settling in really well! We are hoping to raise some funding for her care as we will have her the next 3+ months at minimum as she will require a spay. It’s scheduled for the 7th already! We had a generous pledge to cover her spay but will still need consumables such as litter, hay, pellets, among other things for the entirely of her stay.

It’s been awhile since we’ve done a FIVE-r Friday!! We got great news on our T**hy girl this week💗

While her leg definitely looks uncomfy, it isn’t causing her any pain. It’s unfortunately an old, healed break. Since she’s getting around so well, it’s been determined there is no reason to do an invasive procedure at this time.

She will definitely require some accommodations but we can’t wait to provide her with a wonderful life she deserves.

Meet T**h McFluff. You may wonder why her back leg is kicked out the way it is. Well, we got word today imaging confirmed it is definitely broken. How it got broken?.. How long it’s been broken?.. Those are questions without answers at this point.

Lifeline Animal Project reached out to us earlier this week requesting assistance once they had a few days to determine what exactly was going on with their on staff vet. In the meantime, I took a few days to mull it over and decide if Poe’s Purpose should take it on. I couldn’t find a reason not to, so here we are.

What we do know: She was found in an intersection somewhere in Dekalb County. It is unclear if she was injured prior to being found there. We are unsure if she was dumped, but it isn’t uncommon to see which leads me to feel like it is a reasonable assumption.

What we need from YOU!

We came up with a really awesome fundraiser with a good friend of the sanctuary, Debra Drake.

For the next few days, we will be raffling off tickets for a custom pet portrait painting to help raise funding for her upcoming medical expenses.

This portrait will be for a SINGLE pet. All proceeds will go to her care. Any overages will go towards her future spay/sanctuary supplies. If you can’t donate, PLEASE share!🫶🏼

Our program director usually transports rabbits to the vet for us for alter drop offs and this baby girl has been in the thick of it since she was born 🫶🏼

While we are not a rescue and focus on education, we are able to occasionally help find placement for animals in need. In early 2023, we helped our friends at Camp Critter with some domestic rabbits that were dumped before wildlife season ramped back up. We secured a few homes willing to separate the crew of baby bunny siblings & ensured they all got altered when they were finally old enough.

Those of you experienced with buns know that there is a lull for about 6-8 weeks post alter for hormones to settle & allow for bonding. We got an update from our girl Raven (now Poppy) in her new home today! She scored an amazing family.

You may remember me posting about these girls a couple months back… they were dumped in a storage bin at a church. To be safe, we wanted to find placement in a foster home for the duration of potential pregnancy hold. We are creeping up on the end of it now and would love to find them placement into their forever home. A family who respects them as more than just cute, fuzzy rodents & commits to them as a unit. Piggies are cool critters when you are educated how to care for them properly.❤️❤️❤️

Foster is located in Jefferson, Ga… must be approved for adoption through the sanctuary 🫶🏼

Miss Bailey is looking for her furever home! She came to me as a single piggy along with 9 other ladies! I tried introducing her to the herd a few weeks ago and she was NOT having it. I rarely have single piggies available for adoption. But I really do recommend her as a lone pig. She does not seem to enjoy other company and her previous owner had her alone too. She’s gorgeous and needs an amazing human to bond to. Please contact me about her adoption! I desperately want her to go to a sweet home very soon!!
