One day I decided to pick up my Prisma color pencils and doodle.. and my first pet portrait began to take shape. My subject was a little pittie named Tater. From that portarit the idea for Art for Paws began... Initially Art for Paws was going to be strictly for making money for homeless pets and humane education regarding the care and importance of our furry friends. So I donated gift certificates to various groups that I think are important such as animal rescue, childrens groups and domestic violence. A couple one the gift certificate I dontated to Peace Place, an organization that helps batter women. The winner took some time to pick out her favorite picture of their dog and unfortunately by the time she did the pup had passed away. I did the portrait and when I gave it to them... I looked at the wife and she was saying how happy shew was with the portrait and I looked over to the husband. He had sunglasses on so I couldn’t see his eyes, but his lower lip trimbled. I knew I had captured their precious dog’s personality and that was it for me! I wanted to do my artwork full time.. I’m not there yet, still have a day job.. but that is my goal to do my artwork fulltime, to give people their pets to enjoy long after they have passed away. I still donate to my groups of interest. I have hired three employees who all work for kibble, treats and toys! So come along for the ride and let’s see where the artwork takes up!
