I had to go out and smooze a little yesterday, being a working girl and all. You know managing and running Art for Paws is a lot of work... but I had a grand time yesterday and got to meet this dapper gent, Pascale, and of course got the best tip/treat ever, horse hoof clippings... so now I just have to get onto my employee, aka mom to get to working on his portrait... the things we girls do to earn a living.. love: ~kyra

It's been a busy day but finally here are the winners! Thank you everyone who participated and supported Art for Paws and Friends to the Forlorn! What an amazing rescue group! Jason, his volunteers and supporters are an amazing bunch of people! I am so grateful to all of you who made my first raffle for FTTF such a success! There are not enough words to express my gratitude.
A lot of you knew my sweet Sgt Stubby. He was my heart. He met the Girl Scouts here in Jefferson, he let children at an Athens Elementary school read to him and he visited a nursing home in Commerce. He worked at the local Humane Society Thrift Store and went on to be the best customer service representative here at Art for Paws. He was a shining star and a wonderful advocate for the pit bull breed. Thank you so much for honoring his memory with such a successful endeavor! Thank you Stacey Greenwald for helping and responding to all my messages!! Thank you Swift Thomason-Tornow for pointing me in the right direction and both of you for your encouragement
and Jason Flatt.... you rock! you are amazing. Keep on fighting the good fight!

Where Art truly is for Paws

One day I decided to pick up my Prisma color pencils and doodle.. and my first pet portrait began to take shape. My subject was a little pittie named Tater. From that portarit the idea for Art for Paws began... Initially Art for Paws was going to be strictly for making money for homeless pets and humane education regarding the care and importance of our furry friends. So I donated gift certificates to various groups that I think are important such as animal rescue, childrens groups and domestic violence. A couple one the gift certificate I dontated to Peace Place, an organization that helps batter women. The winner took some time to pick out her favorite picture of their dog and unfortunately by the time she did the pup had passed away. I did the portrait and when I gave it to them... I looked at the wife and she was saying how happy shew was with the portrait and I looked over to the husband. He had sunglasses on so I couldn’t see his eyes, but his lower lip trimbled. I knew I had captured their precious dog’s personality and that was it for me! I wanted to do my artwork full time.. I’m not there yet, still have a day job.. but that is my goal to do my artwork fulltime, to give people their pets to enjoy long after they have passed away. I still donate to my groups of interest. I have hired three employees who all work for kibble, treats and toys! So come along for the ride and let’s see where the artwork takes up!
