Peaches is becoming comfortable in her newhome. Peaches was found hit by a car this past summer. She was a stray, very thin when she was brought to the vets. Kitty Harbor took over her vet stay. It was a while before she could eat more solid food. She was on soft soup type food for weeks and no dry food even longer. One of our great volunteers decided to adopt her. Peaches went from being a stray looking for food, to being a cat that is indoors and not worrying about when and where her next meal was going to be. She is settling in at her own pace and even starting to play. Thank you for sharing and taking such good care of her.

Thank you Jannell L, Bob D and Valerie F. We received your cat food gifts and truly appreciate your generosity. We also received several cat food boxes with no slip telling us who the food was from. Thank you to the 2 anonymous people who also helped us with cat food. Merry Christmas to all our friends who have helped us through the year. The cat food and toys you have sent, has really helped us.

December Newsletter

Thank you everyone who participated in Charter Oaks Matching Gift Give Away. The matching donation from Charter Oak helped us immensely. We also want to thank Charter Oak Credit Union for sponsoring this fundraiser for all 501(c)(3) organizations who can certainly use the extra money provided through the Matching Gift Give Away.

Kitty Harbor was able to adopt out fifteen cats and kittens in November. Six pairs of cats and kittens were adopted in pairs;Nemo & Noah, Ricky & Asiago, Maxwell & Marty, Hocus & Pocus, Grant & Gardenia and Binx & Meeya. Catsby, Samantha and Buster also were adopted.

On the other hand, we took in seventeen cats and kittens. We receive many calls every day asking us to take in someone's cat or a stray. No one seems to realize what a burden this has put on our resources. Every cat must go the the vets and be checked, get rabies and distemper shots and most of the time, spayed or neutered. The cost of this is on Kitty Harbor. When we ask for a donation to take a cat or cats in, people don't think about the cost to us. Kitty Harbor and many local rescues, do not receive funding from the federal, state or local government. We are left to pay for this. Please support your local shelter, especially 501(c)(c)'s and no kill shelters.

In November Kitty Harbor was given funds to specifically have a new driveway put in. Our old driveway was torn up and was a tripping hazard. The person who gave us the funds wishes to remain anonymous and we are truly great full for his donation. At this time we are in need of a new roof on the house or at least have a small area repaired. If someone could help us with
that we would be truly grateful.

If you are looking for the purrfect gift for someone, if you have a loved one in a nursing home or know of someone in a nursing home or who is housebound, you could sponsor a cat for that person. The cost is $10.00 per month and you can decide how many months you would like to sponsor a cat for that person. Your gift recipient will receive a handwritten card and a picture of the cat that you are sponsoring for that person. Please go to kittyharbor.org and click on Sponsor. Download the form, fill it out and mail it to Kitty Harbor, 2263 Glasgo Road, Griswold, CT 06351, or if you are in the area bring it in. It is one way to bring a little something in to that
person's life once a month.

We also have the 2025 Kitty Harbor Alumni Calendar for sale. The cost is $10.00 per calendar.

Wishing everyone A Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah
