I know we haven't been posting here for a bit, and I wasn't GOING to either but that also just leaves everyone hanging.
So we've always joked about the way Jack sits that "Jack went paraplegic again" cause he lets his legs just stretch out behind him. That's just how he sits, how he ALWAYS has.
Then, yeah, Jack woke up ACTUALLY paraplegic.
♪ isn't it ironic ♪
With everything else we are also currently trying to figure out and adjust to, the extra care regimen that comes along with having a special needs dog, especially when it's unexpected and unplanned, is pretty overwhelming.
So until we have ourselves back on track and less overwhelmed/stressed so we are ABLE to give these two the attention and focus they deserve, Jack and Miley have been soaking up some fresh countryside air with Justin's aunt - who happens to also be a saint by the way, no other explanation for how big her heart is ❤️
Not only has she taken them a few times for us already, but was quick to agree to taking them again (she absolutely loves Jack and Miley, it's extremely difficult not to!) AND not only did she take them so we can focus on sorting through what we need to sort through, BUT she also found an amazing veterinarian in her area confident in Jack's recovery.
This vet said it was lucky we didn't have the means to get Jack into surgery when this first happened, because that ACTUALLY would have been WORSE for him and would have caused his chances to be near nonexistent pertaining to regaining use of his back legs.
She has gone above and beyond to vet appointment after vet appointment, physical therapy, pep-talks to both him and Miley, "spa" days at home with baths and massages.
With all this, she has been keeping us updated and there HAS been some baby steps forward, seemingly small steps, but progress is still progress right? Especially with something like this, any sort of strengthened muscle control in his back end is huge in my opinion.
We also had reached out to the Handicapped Pets Foundation and applied for a donated wheelchair to help Jack get around easier, faster, and without developing sores from dragging himself around.
So HUGE shout-out to the Handicapped Pets Foundation also for the immense help they gave us and the crazy amount of stress they alleviated ❤️
We will keep you all updated moving forward also, so stay tuned 🐾
