Her expertise lies with "Puppy Tips and Tricks" but she also covers basic to advanced obedience training, some parkour training, leash walking, and bad habit breaking! We will get your furry family member microchipped and register it for you all in one visit! With the upcoming firework season, we see an influx of stray animals that come into the shelter due to loud noises and/or gates being left open. Please share and get your pet chipped so we can help reunite you with your beloved pet

Been a bit since I posted a PSA.
As a dog trainer first and a vet tech second, I often will give your dog a Quick Look over when I meet them just to gauge any issues that I need to be aware of. Such as if they react to touch like a veterinarian might do (touching ears, face, mouth area, rubbing along the spine, touching toes or the tail, etc.) especially if they’re your first dog.
If I notice things like a lump, long toes nails, dirty ears or fur being stained, I’ll ask about it. I am ABSOLUTELY NOT a veterinarian by any means (nor do I plan to become one), but I can notice and point things out to you for you to speak to your primary DVM about. I will never force someone to go to the vet. I politely suggest and am very understanding if time or funds are limited.
This being said…
My PSA today is about ears. Specifically cleaning and grooming of ears. I had a dog come in for a routine spay today. She was longer haired, and about a year old. It was pretty clear she hasn’t been professionally groomed. She wasn’t matted or in disarray. Her hair was clean but long and in need a of a trim, along with her nails.
During the pre-surgical exam performed by my doctor, it was noted her ears were dirty, so we cleaned them.
What we found… a THICK, MATTED, CLUMP of dirt/hair/wax build up that had caused a “plug” in her ears. There was one in each ear. We were able to get them out but we informed the doctor, who informed the owner that regular cleanings will be needed in her ears all her life. And regular plucking if she goes to a groomer.
Please guys, if you have a longer haired dog, or a dog with extremely floppy ears, clean their ears. Otherwise, they’ll may have to have the hair removed, or the build up could cause an infection and then a course of antibiotics or anti-inflammatories.

I forgave Casper’s misbehavior in this reel because we had attempted this video 3 times before and he was just over it and I was out of treats. I wanted to do this video because I was driving and saw someone on a sidewalk corner attempting to put her puppy into sit and she did the signal like that. Introducing a new doggy bed to Casper. This only his second time working with this bed and it’s very scary to him because it’s elevated and the middle sags like a hammock. I’m very proud of him.
The TikTok video didn’t correctly format. So here’s the original. It’s just the reel I posted, just longer. Original post: Me walking Casper So I do have a voice over, but this is me walking Casper with a Heel and with a 20foot leash. This is after a .8mile walk around the neighborhood and while he is a healthy boy, we haven’t really been walking long since summer started. He’s also a little excited since there was a barking dog in the area. So his focus was slightly skewed. But he did beautifully with heeling and listening. I’ve had him for nearly 5 years now and he has been in training since he was 3 months old. Training never really stops as you can always teach your dog something new.
