Enzo the Bernese Mountain Dog, this boy needed his own post. He is so handsome. An actual gentle giant. He gives hugs and lets you use him as a pillow. 🥺 However good luck getting him in the car, he just roll on his back🤣

Goldie! 💛
Goldie, is 3 year old standard poodle who was rescued from a puppy mill!

So thankful that her family decided to save her! She was very shy at first but once she warms up to you she’s so fun! She’s the most precious pup who loves to smile, chase squirrels and give hugs!

I might be bias but Poodles are my absolute FAVORITE 😍

Only 6 bowls pictured but I promise all 8 dogs were fed! We had a very busy day! Enjoyed the beautiful weather, homemade pumpkin treats (that I forgot to take a picture of😅) and to top it off Turkey and Pumpkin with their dinner!

‼️PLEASE READ‼️
Hello, I'm sure that you have seen that there is a new Upper Respiratory Illness affecting dogs.

Symptom's include......
• Coughing
• Runny nose
• Sneezing
• Discharge from nasal
• In really bad cases respiratory problem's that lead to pneumonia

Of course I am on the look out for any of these symptom's that may occur within the pups that will be here this week. I have been in contact with my vets office for tips on how I should go about this. I will be increasing my sanitization and cleaning of the house, dog room and kennels more. Of course there is a risk of the pups contracting this illness because it is airborne and dogs walking can even contact it. There is NO vaccination for this illness* as it is so new.

However, if your dog shows any signs of these symptom's please get your pup checked out as this can quickly turn into pneumonia .

* If you do remember a month or so ago we had a pup that was sick and then quite a few of the ones I watched ended up getting sick as well. I discussed this with my vet too, he isn't for sure that it was Kennel Cough that the dogs had. He said with my dogs blood test being negative for kennel cough and other viruses it may have actually been this illness. There is no recorded cases of this illness in the Midwest but, that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

I am staying up to date with the research that is being found and taking all the precautions I possibly can. I will be keeping a close eye on each individual pup as they are here as well. The second something seems off I will directly be giving you a call.

All the dogs that stay here at PAWSITTING HAVEN are up to date on vaccinations. If you want to take more precautions you can get them a booster for their flu shot as well as kennel cough. Dogs that have gotten the mysterious illness have recovered better if they were up to date on vaccinations.

With any doggy daycare, boarding, groomers or vets office there is a risk of your pup getting sick.

Thankful for all the Pawrents that trust me with their pups. Praying for a safe Thanksgiving Week and that all the pups are healthy and happy!

With everything that has recently happened involving the outbreak of kennel cough (due to no ones fault). I now require each dog owner to sign a Communicable Disease Liability Release Form. That does include all my current clients as well as new ones.
Thank you to everyone who continues to let me watch their pup and are patient with me as well.

Happy Sunday, since it’s cold and extremely rainy out and the house is a muddy mess. I thought I would share some more info on the puppy program!

This Chart below ⬇️ is the one I follow for any pup that is doing the Puppy Program. Along with following this as well we work on crate training. So going a couple hours in the crate also helps with bladder control. Sometimes if they settle down in their crate and don’t bark I’ll let them out early and reward them. For any new pup parents that follow our page with a new pup this can be extremely helpful to you as well!

‼️LONG POST‼️PLEASE READ‼️

Recently as some of you know I had a dog with kennel cough. Neither I nor the dog's owner knew that his dog had the virus. The dog had contracted it from another dog (at a different location). The dog’s owner was then informed after he had picked up his dog from my house. In which IMMEDIATELY he let me know and then I informed all the dogs PAWrents that were at my house as the same time as the pup with kennel cough. I then called two veterinary clinics and asked what steps going forward I needed to do to make sure that no more pups were infected…. So I bleached, mopped my floor everyday (Tuesday from when I found out to THIS Saturday Morning) as well as lysoling everything even the kennels and the kennel pads as well and washing the blankets and toys of the dog room.

�I shut down for the remaining week, I had some bookings that were coming up so I informed the owners about what had happened and let them know it was okay if they wanted to cancel their booking. All three let me know that they still felt comfortable bringing their pup as they are all up to date on shots as well as they knew the precaution and extensive cleaning I had done.

There is an accusation being made that I am allowing all dogs to come WITHOUT being up to date on their vaccinations. This is happening because unfortunately one dog that was here as well as the pup that unknowing had kennel cough is very sick. Just like I had messaged all the other owners the day I found out October 24th 2023 I informed them as well that since their pup wasn’t feeling good it was best they be seen by a vet.

�Which is not true at all, I REQUIRE each dog to be up to date on their vaccinations and show proof of this as well. It’s also in a pinned on post discussing requirements. However dogs that are updated on their shots can still contract kennel cough. I was informed by one vets office that I had contacted that it's like a cold but for dogs. Each dog can have other symptoms as well as their bodies can be affected in other ways. Had I known this dog was carrying the virus they wouldn’t have come to my house. It is just like if your kiddo went to daycare and came home sick, it’s something you risk with taking them to a daycare. Same goes for taking your dog to doggy-daycare.

�I send my full condolences to the owner and their dog. I pray that he gets better and makes a full recovery. However, insulting me about this not being a job, telling me I shouldn’t ever be allowed to watch dogs as well as wishing death upon my own dog is not the way to solve this. I have taken the correct actions needed at this time. If everyone who has let me care for their dog and loves bringing them here please leave a kind message or review that would be much appreciated. Trusting God that he will see and do what is best for this business.
