Small Victories Animal Advocacy & Rescue was formerly located in Kalamazoo, Michigan and has moved to the Fayette County, West Virginia region. We strive to make a difference in animals' lives. If there is an animal in need and the resources are available, we will do what we can to help. Our intention is to grow within our communities and develop a core group of volunteers that not only believe in helping animals, but the people that care for them as well.

April Mae (aka Cherry Eye) is another momma dog who has done her job and needs someone to take a chance on her now. She's been patiently waiting for over 6 months! She is a friendly girl, good with kids, and just your typical all around good natured hound dog. She does have Cherry Eyes which require surgery for removal, but won't impact her permanently.

April Mae would do best as the only dog in the household. She will be spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and receive flea and tick prevention as part of her adoption. Her adoption fee is $125.00.

Meet sweet and adorable Momma Llama. Momma came to the shelter shortly after having a small litter of pups. She was a wonderful mother and now that her puppies are adopted and gone, she needs a new home that will give her all the love she deserves. She's a wee little thing that just wants to be be snuggled and safe. 💕

Momma is 5-6 years old and came from a home with dogs, so she should be okay with other friendly dogs. She will be spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and receive flea and tick prevention as part of her adoption. Her adoption fee is $125.00.

We're boosting this post because Fayette County Humane Society is at a Code Red status and the kennels are full. They are offering free adoptions for adult dogs and $40 adoptions for pups under 6 months of age. The dogs in this post are the dogs we've met, but there are many more available. Meet sweet Clarice. She's had a rough time of it, but hasn't let that get her down. Although she is a little shy at first, she is quick to trust and allow for lots of scratchies and affection. Clarice appears to be a Shar Pei mix of some sort. She's a nice manageable medium size and would definitely benefit from some additional weight gain. Clarice just needs a new start in life so she can leave her past far behind her. ❤️

It's the holiday season and there are so many dogs still waiting for their forever home at the Fayette County Humane Society. These photos are all the dogs we've featured that still don't have a home and loving family to call their own. And there are still so many more waiting that we haven't even met yet.

In honor of everything that they do for unwanted animals, please consider giving back in the following ways to the Fayette County Humane Society:

ADOPTION
Please consider adoption. Dog adoptions are $125.00 and include the dog being up-to-date on its vaccines, its spay/neuter, and its flea and tick prevention for the month. This is a savings of anywhere between $400-500! Well worth it to support the work the shelter does for homeless animals.

FOSTER
If you can't make a long term commitment, fostering does wonders for the dogs both in relieving them of shelter stress as well as learning valuable information about their personalities that can be shared with potential adopters.

DOG DAY OUT
The Fayette County Humane Society also has a Dog Day Out program where you can check a dog out of the shelter and spend the day with it. Take it hiking, running at the dog park, or even just snuggling on your couch. The attention and exercise does wonders for their morale.

Loveable Casper has a very treatable skin condition that makes him look like he took the latest "Pink Pony Club" trend a little too seriously. He doesn't let his looks this get him down though and he is every bit a sweet and friendly puppy as you can find. Casper seems like a hound or terrier mix of some kind, with what is usually a soft white coat with light brown spots. He is an absolute sweetheart and deserves to spend the rest of his puppyhood in a kind and loving home.

Calling all hound dog lovers! Meet loveable Alice 😍. Lucy loves to explore and check out all the smells. She also LOVES people. She is as sweet and affectionate as a Coonhound can be. She's been an outdoor dog, heavily bred and probably left on her own a lot. Let's make this new chapter in her life a good one and show her how wonderful a new family can be. She deserves it! 💕

Sweet Licorice is a Great Dane mix and she has been through some stuff in her short life. She came to the shelter severely malnourished and scared. Fortunately, she hasn't let her past get the best of her and she is still as sweet and good natured as they come. It takes a little bit to gain her trust and confidence, but once you do she will be your best friend.

Licorice was lucky enough to spend some time outside of the shelter and her fosters for the day said that she was afraid for a short while, but quickly warmed up to everyone. She is great on leash and knows how to sit. And the couch and bones are her favorite things. ❤️

Due to her being so malnourished, she can eat rather quickly. Her new owners will need to be prepared to help her gain weight, but also use precautions to keep her from eating too fast which can sometimes lead to bloat in dogs like her.

Licorice is about 1-2 years old. She has not been tested with other animals yet, but is not reactive towards them when walking through the kennels. Licorice will be spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and receive flea and tick prevention as part of her adoption. Her adoption fee is $125.00.

Halloween and Michael Myers have sadly spent far too much of their young lives at the shelter. They're both the sweetest of boys who love to play. The shelter is a scary place for them and they do take a few minutes to warm up in new surroundings, but once they do they're just like any other puppy... full of curiosity and fun!

Halloween and Michael Myers are about 4-5 months old and to us, they appear to be Shepherd and/or Lab mixes. They will be neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and receive flea and tick prevention as part of their adoptions. Their adoption fee is $125.00 each.

This is Bridge and we're in love with this sweetest of girls. Just look at those beautiful eyes 😍! And if you like dogs that hug, look no further. She loves to hug and be doted on. She hasn't been at the shelter long, but it is definitely not her happy place. She's a people-dog and is in desperate need for a new home that can love and appreciate her.

Bridge has not been tested with other animals yet, but she did arrive at the shelter with another dog called Gauley. Bridge will be spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and receive flea and tick prevention as part of her adoption. Her adoption fee is $125.00.

Meet Yeller! Who doesn't love a beautiful Yellow Lab-ish kind of boy? He's is a stunner and a sweetheart as well. He is a little scared at first, but warms up quickly once he understands he can trust you. We think he's most likely fearful because he's struggling a bit with shelter life and that this fear will probably subside once he's in a new home. Our notes about him say "cute and floppy" 🤣, so what's not to love?
