Rudy came to me very troubled. The first 35 days were about gaining only about an inch of trust each day. This horse and the journey we have been on has been about trust, timing, and feel. Working with Rudy has been more of spiritual journey than about starting a colt, really. Everything I have offered this horse has had to come from inside of me. I aim to put enough good in this horse to make sure he never encounters trouble again. With the guidance of Dave Gamble, he is teaching me to be a better horseman and giving me more to offer every horse I work with.
First saddling for Champ this week went smooth and easy like it should 👍
We spent an incredible week doing our favourite things, roping, tagging calves, branding and riding, with our friends Conrad and Eli Gross of the Spokane Hutterian Bretheren in Washington. It was an experience of a lifetime and can’t wait to go back.
3-year old’s first time in the branding pen
What is the most rewarding feeling as someone who works with horses? When the horses you worked with go on to be assets who have useful and fulfilling jobs.
Here is Turbo being ridden by the 13 year old son of a client who we started 3 horses for. Turbo is 3 years old and this is his first time in the branding pen! He looks like an old pro 💕
Rolling off the leg with no reins and starting to develop lateral flexion with just the leg
First ride on Vaquero for 2023! Travis started Vaquero a year and a half ago with 14 rides. We gave him a year and half to grow up and the following few videos are his restart under saddle
“Billi” at the end of her 30 days. Billi has been with us twice now for education and improving each time. A couple clips of her working on her crisp stops with the seat and the final video of her guiding in walk and trot with legs only.
A couple short clips of “Magic,” an off the track Thoroughbred. A horse that was previously frantic, unbalanced, with no understanding of legs or reins. Working here on rolling the hindquarters and yielding to the leg while in a soft feel. Also practicing transitions to walk and trot in a soft feel
