Help! Calling on my cattle friends!
I have a 7 month old calf that will only eat grass ( which we are going to run out of soon) 😩
He has a great appetite, no temp, no other signs of illness, checked his mouth, dewormed & all the things. I recently pulled him into a dry lot trying to get him to eat calf starter ( yes it has been offfered to him all along with the other calves but he refused), chopped hay, chopped alfalfa, grass hay, even tried chopped carrots & apples and he will turn his nose up to them all! I have tried so much, I even pull grass and try to mix it with chopped hay, hay, feed ect and he will pick around everything only eating the grass??

Any tricks, tips, suggestions to get this sweet guy eating more variety would be greatly appreciated! I’m worried with how thin he’s getting winter will be super hard on him🥹. TIA

Not gonna lie, kinda sad I didn’t retain this girl… she’s homozygous silver! She will only throw silver and dun calves no matter what color she is bred to. ❤️

It’s always bitter sweet when it’s time for them go to their new forever home, but I know they are going to a wonderful family. This little guy and his unrelated sister will be heading to South Carolina this weekend. He is so gentle he let me trim his piddle hairs right in the middle of the pasture😂.

Wrapping up calving season with another bull calf, closing us out at 70% bulls for 2024🙃. Cant complain at all since everyone is healthy and thriving which is all I can hope for!
I thought our last guy was small at 30 lbs but this guy is officially our smallest calf to date. He weighs 19lbs and 17-18” tall… for reference our 21 lb cat ( yes he’s always on an diet) 😂. And our 41 lb dog.. I can easily carry this calf in one arm, he’s so tiny❤️

Smallest calf we have had yet, weighing 30.6 lbs and 17-18 inch tall. Non Chondro bull calf.
Will be available at weaning.
