As the KC Metro area experiences a pet homelessness crisis with there not being enough resources to care for the large numbers of animals needing shelter, the length of animals stay at the shelter increased.

For this reason, this page is dedicated to promoting animals to ease them of the fear, stress, anxiety, and frustration experienced in shelter settings by helping to place them into adoptive homes. One of the first dogs I would like to introduce is Elyse.

Elyse is an excellent example of a dog that has been awaiting adoption with little interest from the public despite having almost no barriers preventing her from being placed. She adores people, enjoys playgroups on a regular basis, and has learned a lot about manners. To say that we would be over the moon to see her in a home for the holidays is an understatement. Please reach out to Wayside Waifs, or better yet come in during our adoption hours to adopt or take Elyse on a slumber pawty!
