Catsmas
'Twas the night before Catsmas,
you could hear the wind howl.
Not a critter was stirring, except,
of course, Baby Al!
The stockings were hung,
they swung just a bit.
But they wouldn't be there long,
not if Al could help it.
The other critters were nestled,
all snug in their place.
Dreaming of treats, or playing ball,
brought a smile to each face.
When up on the roof,
the noise sounded like a mob.
Al thought to himself,
'Making a ruckus is MY job.'
He jumped from one place
and then to another.
He considered the bed,
to wake up his mother.
He cocked his small head,
to identify the sound.
Then St. Nicholas came
down the chimney with a bound.
Who was this large man,
with the twinkle in his eye?
Al hid behind the couch,
just so he could spy.
The man began putting presents,
all around the tree.
Al thought to himself
'Has he any for me? '
Suddenly at the couch
he peeked around the side.
The man's smile told him
there was no reason to hide.
Baby Al stood up tall
he's a brave cat, you can't deny.
St. Nicholas said,
"I just love your bow tie! "
"Thank you" Al said
"My mom made it for me".
"Do I have any gifts,
under the tree"?
"It's hard," St. Nick said,
"Including animals too.
I need an elf to help me.
is that something you can do? "
Al was shocked all to pieces,
being asked to help the big man.
But he thought to himself,
'I can do it , I know that I can. '
He began making bandanas
and bow ties for them all.
And with Nick's Christmas magic
it took no time at all.
Nick gathered them up,
and they filled up his pack.
He hosted it up
and onto his back.
Nick got down on one knee,
to thank the small cat.
He had worked so hard,
he would be rewarded for that.
"For what you have done,
you'll not be forgotten, not ever.
I christen you, kitty,
Fancy Al, forever!"
Fancy Al sat up straight,
he liked his new name.
He bopped Santa on the nose,
it's just a cat game.
Santa went to the chimney,
"I've got to go, little man.
He nodded his head
up the chimney, he ran.
"It's time, I'm off,
to fly into the air
Now all the critters in the world
can have premium neckwear!"
Al watched the big man
as he flew out of site.
He thought to himself,
'What a fabulous night.'
Merry Christmas from Fancy Al!
