Here are this afternoon’s surface temperatures in Sacramento. During the summer, sunny concrete and asphalt can easily cause 1st degree burns to an animal’s paws. Keep them cool by sticking to grass and shady areas!

🐾 🐈‍⬛ 🩶 This goofball is 5 years old today! He came into my life when I didn’t know I needed him. I never knew the love of cats until he came along. He healed me in numerous ways and continue to light up my life today. His name is Chernobyl because for a long time, I only had dogs. My dogs didn’t know what a cat was! My Staffie, Maggie used to wrestle with possums and win! I thought she might harm my new kitty. Anyway, I figured he was the nuclear disaster that I’d throw in the midst of my dogs’ zen lives. But he is the total opposite of being destructive and disastrous. He became the dogs’ calm. He healed them too in many ways.
Today, he is one of five cats and is the only gray kitty. He is the most talkative and is quite entertaining as he is very interactive! He’s my heart cat. I couldn’t ask for a better one. I love him so much!

Puppy and Pig went to their puppy class today. They got to socialize and make puppy friends, they got to smell all the smells, interact with people, and now they’re all tuckered out on our drive home!

Saturday puppy socialization class!

Socializing your dog doesn’t mean I need to take her to a dog park. Personally, I simply want to teach my dog that we live in this beautiful world AND that when she sees other people or dogs, she should learn that other people, dogs, cats, birds, etc ALSO live in this beautiful world. My aim is to train a dog that trusts me enough to be out in public and not worry about her reacting in a manner of using vocalization or in prey-drive mode. Rule #1: my dog needs to feel safe in public. Rule #2: positive reinforcements when my dog exhibit behavior that I like and want more of (ie: Kodi’s check-ins after taking note of whatever distraction(s) she gave her attention to. #gsd
