Tugg *AKA Tugg-a-lugg* decided to dig a hole under the quail pen and let out a few quail just so he could have some fun pointing them back out for us 😂 Gotta love him! And glad he is well trained! 🐾

**BIRD UPDATE**- Pheasant are getting some pretty colors and nice looking tails already! Quail are flying good and fast AF boi come get some! Chukar chicks come in next week along with another batch of pheasant 🐣

Nine years ago we bought Hawkeye with the goal of sharing this piece of East Texas with upland bird hunters and vacationers alike. The land is beautiful, the lodges are renovated and super comfy, but it’s the dogs that keep us going. There just isn’t anything like walking behind these highly trained athletes and watching them work! If you have never been to Hawkeye or it’s been several years, please come back and visit. You will be happily surprised at all of the improvements!!

After much consideration and a extensive search Katy Prairie Pointers has decided to add Black to our bloodline. Everyone welcome KPP’s “River” Jessica’s Total Smoke Show. River comes from Circle B Kennels & Outfitters, she is AKC and NAVHDA registered. River will be working towards her hunters titles and we have hopeful plans of her competing in hunt trials as well as maybe dock diving. She’s is the absolute perfect girl that we wanted in our first black GSP and she’s being spoiled of course at her new home.

‘Brazos Rivers Calleigh Rae’ x ‘Circle B Pull the Trigger Roan’

-Calleigh is very obedient out in the field along with having a lot of natural ability and a high drive for birds. Calleigh is a close working dog along with having a great nose. Calleigh hunts a variety of birds such as quail, pheasant, and dove in the Texas Hill Country & South Texas. Calleigh weighs 48lbs.

-Trigger received high quality bird dog training along with being a guide dog
for guided quail, chukar, and pheasant hunts in North, West, and the Hill Country of Texas. Trigger has experienced wild quail hunting in Western Oklahoma, wild pheasant hunting in Kansas and hunted wild huns, sharptail and pheasant in Montana. Trigger never misses an honor situation, and he will stand birds just as good whether it is 80 yards or 600 yards. Trigger is steady to wing shot and fall. Trigger’s sire Keg Creek Second Edition is a guide dog at the King Ranch!
Trigger weighs 50lbs.

Just a Tip….You should be conditioning and strengthening and refreshing your hunting dog now and take advantage of this nice weather. Work up to the heat and get them ready for the field in September. These dogs are athletes in every since of the word and as such require an off season. Start in the backyard at home if needed especially if they’ve been sitting around since December. Remember, heat stroke is real and can happen quickly so always bring water with you, and I always carry some peanut butter and some unseasoned beef jerky for blood sugar. Now get to work, and hit some clays so y’all are both ready for Hunting Season in Texas!! Katy Prairie Pointers

9 month old Hank from our last litter being introduced to quail for the first time. Hank was our last pup to go in that litter because he doesn’t have a lot of markings. Owner says he’s doing great on his upland training. Thankfully markings have nothing to do with Hunt Drive!! 😎😎😎😎 Keep it up Hank!!
