My boy political Rivalary 🏆

Political Rivalry, a multiple graded stakes winning son of champion KVN Corona racing for Keith W. Nellesen, is the fastest qualifier to the March 24, $204,200 El Primero del Ano Derby (G2) for 3-year-old colts and geldings at Los Alamitos.

On Sunday, Political Rivalry won the second of three trials by 1 1/2 lengths from fifth-fastest qualifier Xpensive while going 400 yards in :19.853. Jose Nicasio rode the gelding for trainer Heath Taylor.

Political Rivalry was making his sophomore season debut off of a 2-year-old campaign during which he earned $488,728 from seven races and won the June 18, 350-yard Ed Burke Million Futurity (G1), and the October 1, 350-yard PCQHRA Breeders' Futurity (G2). The bay gelding was bred in Utah by McColee Land and Livestock LLC, and he is out of Apolitical Zoom, a graded stakes winning 12-year-old daughter of world champion Apollitical Jess.
