The managing group of the state fair of Texas has decided to ban concealed carry and lawful open carry by Texas residents. Last year someone who was not licensed to legally carry managed to smuggle a gun onto the state fairgrounds and shoot at people. So this year the fair has decided to penalize the lawfully, licensed carrying Texas citizens. I won’t be attending the state fair this year. They’re setting everyone up to be sitting ducks by violating their second amendment rights. Shameful that a private organization on public property can jeopardize the second amendment rights of Texas citizens.

Our beloved Duke has been gone for two years now. I haven’t had the heart to even think about replacing him. But yesterday a new member joined our family at the farm. His name is Rusty. Mixed breed. 10 years old. He’s a delightful fellow. We’re happy to give him a home. And I think he’s going to be really good For us because he has us outside getting our exercise now! Welcome to the farm and family Rusty!

These two men and this ranch were the heart of my childhood paradise. Newton Bell was my grandfather and this picture was taken on his Bells Hereford Ranch near Tecumseh, Oklahoma, in Pottawatomie County. Rob Wilson is my brother, my only sibling. Granddaddy made my childhood dreams come true. Rob was there to take care of his little sister. I miss my grandfather so very much. I miss the times my brother and I pooshared. But I’m thankful for all the precious memories in which these two men were such an important part. Picture was taken in 1986.
