🐾Meet Bob-or as we lovingly call him Robert...Sir Robert....Old Man Bob. No matter the name, this sweet 9 year old gentleman has stolen every heart in the building. 💛

It took a month and a half to catch Bob, and when he first arrived, he was absolutely terrified of being inside. But oh, how far he's come! Now he trots into the shelter like he owns the place and spends his days snuggled up in our director's office, enjoying soft beds, warm blankets, and all the love he can get.

Bob has a cute little head tilt and some facial paralysis, likely from an old injury, but it doesn't slow him down one bit-it just makes him even more endearing.

This sweet old soul would love a quiet home where he can spend his glory years being adored, napping in sunny spots, and soaking up the comfort he's missed for so long.

If you've got room in your heart and home for a true gentleman, Sir Robert is ready to meet you. 🐶✨

Every strong, compassionate community relies on a few essential ingredients...and your local animal shelter is one of them. ❤🐾

Just like any good recipe, it takes the right mix to make something amazing. Our community's "success recipe" includes:

🐾Egypt Needs a Miracle...🐾

Some animals come through our doors and find homes right away. And then there's Egypt.

Egypt has been with us far, far too long. She's a gentle soul with a big heart, but the shelter environment is taking a toll on her. The barking, the stress, the constant noise-it's all becoming too much. Lately, we've watched her spirit start to dim, and it absolutely breaks our hearts.

Egypt wants nothing more than a quiet home where she can finally exhale...where she doesn't have to worry, where she can curl up next to her person and feel safe again. She doesn't like other dogs, so she's looking for a home where she can be your one-and-only. And honestly? She deserves that.

We see the way she presses her head into our hands, begging for just a few more minutes of love. We see the sadness in her eyes when she realizes its not her turn to go home-again.

She has waited long enough.
She has hurt long enough.

Please....if you have room in your heart and home for a dog who needs you more than you know, consider giving Egypt the life she's been dreaming of. If you can't adopt, sharing this post could be the one thing that finally changes her world.

Adoption Update! 💛🐾

"Hi!! We adopted Oak in August of 2024 and Julius in January of 2025! They are the most perfect addition to our home, they follow us around, have a lot to say, and love to cuddle at the end of the day. We are so grateful for the staff at the Kearney Area Animal Shelter who helped us adopt our fur babies! "

Kearney Area Animal Shelter

The Kearney Area Animal Shelter was made possible due to the generous donation of gifts, talents, and time of many individuals. Most importantly, $1,000,000.00 was donated by Scott and Cheryl Morris for the construction of a facility that would be capable fulfilling the mission of the Kearney Area Animal Shelter for generations to come.

After a long and careful planning period, the Kearney Area Animal Shelter broke ground on their new facility on June 10, 2005. The site is located on Highway 30, south of Meadowlark Golf Course and east of the Nebraska Department of Roads facility.

The Kearney Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony was held on February 16, 2006 at 4:30 pm. and pet adoptions began Sunday, February 19, 2006.
