At our shelter, we celebrate the happily ever afters...but we also face the hard cases-the ones that keep us up at night, the ones who walk through our door broken, hurting, and depending on us to fight for them.

It's Too Cute Tuesday!🐾

Meet Pongo, the border collie mix who runs entirely on love, zoomies, and whatever invisible caffeine source he has hidden somewhere. At just 1 year old, this handsome goofball is the perfect blend of sweet snuggles and "did someone say playtime?!"

Pongo is fantastic with other dogs, and-according to him-every dog is his new best friend. He's super affectionate, leans into your legs for pets, and will gladly flop over for belly rubs. He's got that charming "I'm trying really hard to behave but my wiggles won't let me" energy that's impossible not to love.

Yes he's got energy-but the fun kind. The "let's go on adventures together" kind. The "we will absolutely sleep well tonight" kind.

Disclaimer time: Border collies and their mixes are SMART. Like, figure out your Wi-Fi Password smart. They need mental and physical stimulation, so make sure you're ready for a pup who learns fast, loves jobs, and thrives with an active lifestyle. If you're looking for a couch potato...Pongo says he is not that guy (but will cuddle on the couch after activities).

Kearney Area Animal Shelter

The Kearney Area Animal Shelter was made possible due to the generous donation of gifts, talents, and time of many individuals. Most importantly, $1,000,000.00 was donated by Scott and Cheryl Morris for the construction of a facility that would be capable fulfilling the mission of the Kearney Area Animal Shelter for generations to come.

After a long and careful planning period, the Kearney Area Animal Shelter broke ground on their new facility on June 10, 2005. The site is located on Highway 30, south of Meadowlark Golf Course and east of the Nebraska Department of Roads facility.

The Kearney Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony was held on February 16, 2006 at 4:30 pm. and pet adoptions began Sunday, February 19, 2006.
