Welcome to the Long Equestrian Center page!
The Long Equestrian Center is proudly owned by Dr. Leighr, the Owner & Veterinarian of the Long Veterinary Clinic in Kearney, MO! The Long Equestrian Center has been a long-time dream of Dr. Leighr's to rejoin the facility back with Long Veterinary Clinic. After years of hard work and renovations, we are all beyond excited to bring this dream into reality. As we slowly start to kick things off here at our equestrian center, we want to welcome you!
About Us:
The Long Equestrian Center will be managed and coordinated by Melissa Morris. Melissa has a background in eventing, dressage, training, as well as experience in several other disciplines throughout the Kansas City Horse Community. Down the road, Melissa will be offering haul in lessons, lessons on LEC owned horses, kids summer camps, pee-wee children's groups, and more. Melissa shares Dr. Leighr's vision and passion for teaching and plans to host a wide variety of clinics and workshops with equine professionals to provide learning opportunities for horse lovers of all ages & experience levels. This beautiful facility is conveniently located just outside of Kearney, Missouri, with easy access to the main highway, hotels, restaurants, and gas stations. We are just 25 minutes north of Kansas City, Missouri and 30 minutes from the KCI Airport. An equine traveler's dream come true! Our Facility:
Stalls: We have 24 spacious and beautiful stalls in our facility. Some are 12x14 and others are 12x16.
Indoor Arena: Our indoor arena is roughly 60x140 and has a sand & fiber mixture by Premiere Equine Footing. This sand & fiber mixture mimics a turf and is optimal for all types of riding. Our arena is maintained regularly with watering & dragging.
Outdoor Arena: COMING SOON! Our outdoor arena is still under construction, but we are very excited for it! The outdoor arena will have the same footing as our indoor arena but will be 200x300 in size.
Other Information: Our facility offers several cross tie locations and a wash stall with heated water options. Our tack room, feed room, bathroom, and lab rooms are all climate controlled and heated during the winter months.

Lessons & Horse Training: *We are not yet offering lessons or training. We will advertise on this page when we are open for lessons & training.*
Overnight Stalls for Travelers:
Our stalls are now open for travelers needing a safe and cozy place to keep their horse with hotels, restaurants, and gas stations conveniently located just 5 minutes from us. Message our page to book your overnight stall for traveling!
Clinics & Shows: If you are looking to host an event such as a fun show or riding clinic, we would love to book you! Message us to book future dates for shows, riding clinics, or events!
