Bear is such a happy boy!! Bear came to the shelter as an owner surrender. He is skinny and has skin issues but those issues are being taken care of now. He loves affection and his walkies and sharing his big, beautiful smile to everyone he meets. Could this be the same GSD that came into JCAC several months ago?! Unbelievably, the answer is yes! Sarge came to JCAC as a stray at the end of January with a Jack mix. Sarge was probably 4 or 5 months old when he came in, totally unsocialized, and just skin and bones… so pitiful. He followed the Jack’s lead on everything and was afraid for us to even touch him at first.

Since then, the Jack got adopted so we’ve had some time to work with Sarge one-on-one. He is doing really great, and making huge progress! He now allows us to put on a harness for walkies and actively seeks our affection. However, Sarge is still a very nervous dog, and therefore needs a special home. Ideally, that home would be one that has a confident, friendly dog to show Sarge the ropes of trusting in a scary world. Preferably, Sarge’s forever home would have no small children because he is a flight risk due to his fears. Last and most importantly, Sarge needs a home with an experienced family who understands the need to go at Sarge’s pace and knows how to build his confidence.

Sarge has grown so much while at the kennel and he is filling out to be quite the gorgeous boy! He is about 45 pounds but still has some growing to do. After he’s finished growing, Sarge will probably end up being a bit smallish for a GSD.

Give a warm welcome to Thelma and Louise! Sadly, these girls are thought to have been dumped on a rural road to fend for themselves. No problem for Thelma and Louise! Although they've been unappreciated, these two are the most joyful and happy girls despite their pasts. They need work on their manners and have lots of energy (which is hard to contain when one has happy feet ;) )! We think it would be fine to adopt them out separately but adopting them together would be double the fun! ADOPTED!!

Our Buttercup is simply the sweetest girl. She is gentle and loving and so kind. We can't say enough about her! Buttercup came into the shelter as a young stray ... skinny and scared. With just a little bit of time and care, she was completely bloomed. Buttercup loves her walkies and doesn't seem to mind other dogs but her favorite thing is sitting next to you getting petted. Buttercup is ready for a change ... to be adopted into a loving, forever home where she can get all the love she desires and deserves; where she'll never skip another meal; and where she'll live in peace and quiet for the rest of her doggie life. This is Dusty! Dusty was picked up by AC as a stray 3 weeks ago. Rusty is a very young hound dog mix and has the wonderful "bay" to prove it! Rusty came into the shelter skinny and frightened ... he shook and trembled pitifully for several days. These days Dusty is ready for some play out of his run although sometimes the loud barking from some of the other dogs still scares him. Dusty would love a forever home away from the kennel noise where someone will fatten him up, give him lots of love, and provide him a happy home and family to grow up with! Welcome Dorothy to the shelter! Dorothy has been at the shelter now for several weeks. Dorothy is a super friendly, pretty border mix. She seems to like other dogs. Dorothy has an area of alopecia on her rump but she is not itching, scratching or bothering it at all however, Dorothy would benefit from a vet visit to get her on a treatment for fur regrowth. The bald area doesn't distract from her beauty or happy spirit but we bet that having a loving, forever home would definitely boost her mood to the moon! What’s a pughuahua? That sounds strange… well meet our Maurice! At first, Maurice was very frightened at the kennel, and wouldn’t come to the gate to see anyone. He’s changed his mind recently! And he’s a lover just as much as he is cute. Maurice was found as a stray and turned into animal control a couple weeks ago. He is adorable and sweet and ready for his new home!
