Today’s visit to Cheshire Horse. Along with the grain order all before the next set of storms. Mr Smooth is getting a new halter.

Smooth finally rolled. He has been with us for 6 weeks. He has a girlfriend. “addy”. He loves to be brushed and loved on. Today he let us know he has chosen Freedom Reins to be his home. 8 more weeks and he will have more kids loving him than he can handle.

This girl “Rosie posie” went to visit her friends at draft gratitude to get her feet trimmed. She has come a long way from the day we repurposed her from there. She walks into the stalks like a pro, rests on them when needed and overall is a good girl. Thank you to Kerry for fixing her up. Rose had blown an abscess and needed some TLC for it to heal correctly. She is. Is back home in Surry and feeling fine.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE….allow me to re-introduce this gentleman. He has been with us for a bit at our second location and the Surry Village Charter School classes were tasked with the very important task of giving him a name. So huge thank you to them. Everyone please welcome “Carlos”. He is excited to have a name that is all his. He will be visiting the kids this spring

9 horses getting pedicures. Some enjoy, some do not but it gets done every 8 weeks. Next time Chris comes there will be 10. This costs approx $600 a visit and is just one ongoing expense for this program. We might start selling “hoof picks” during our down time.

First roll

Current status in Surry. We have about 2 inches and it’s windy. The horses in run outs are all using their shelters currently. It’s going to be a long cold week.

One of the most relaxing sounds in the world.

New bedding

6 am feeding. These horses wore blankets for three days with the cold end windchill. Last night they stayed uncovered and look at what a fabulous job their winter coats are doing keeping the snow lifted. They are not wet underneath or cold. Just “starving for breakfast”. More in comments.
