It is heart breaking to hear of a child feeling so alone and unheard that they make the decision to take their own life. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, and all affected by this tragedy.

Now is the time for those left behind to Pull UP A SEAT in their child’s life.

It is not a time to lecture, rant, threaten or push an adult’s perspective on the events that led up to this point. The children living in today’s world are not as sheltered as we were as children. The internet is everywhere. Access to information surrounds them at every corner. A parent can attempt to limit this within their own home but would be hard pressed to limit this exposure outside of the home.

What can we as adults do to respond to this tragedy? We need to listen. We need to be the safe space for children to come to and express their feelings of anger, confusion, helplessness. If you feel you’re not able to handle this type of communication please reach out to professionals, friends or relatives that can help steer the conversation.

This is more than just telling your child to be kind. This is the time to show up for them. Make the time to be with them and to watch their reactions to everything being said. The Keene community is expressing all kinds of theories, ideas, ways to make it better and ways to have accountability so that this tragedy does not happen again. This passionate response can also be intimidating if a child wants to speak up but is not sure this is the right time.

Pull up a seat and start the conversation with your child. Listen and don’t judge. Now is a critical time for adults to show kindness in the grips of fear, anger, grief. I guarantee you will both learn from it.

Today started with the best breakfast at Momma McDonoughs with this handsome kid. The farrier was at the barn and we finished haying around 9 pm. Thanks team for making the magic happen

How are we doing? Here’s some for you.

Year April 2024 through Sept 2024

(3) 6 week sessions = 100 lessons per session
2 events a session = 400 pony rides average

3 instructors, 20+ volunteers, 8 horses
Average age = 13. Youngest 4 YOA. Oldest 70 YOA.

Session 4 starts in a few weeks, we have two schools booked as well as GS troops and many offsite events.

We continue to grow, our participants continue to thrive, our horses are healthy and happy.

We would love to have you join us - board members needed, volunteer’s needed, donations welcome.

We have big plans for 2025. If you would like to be part of a growing program, are willing to give as little as a few hours a month we can promise you a lot of laughs, creativity constantly flowing and an amazing group of people with one mission in mind. Providing therapeutic riding lessons to those with disabilities.

I cannot say thank you enough for what Tam does for this program. Today I got the honor of getting her back in the saddle. She did amazing. Gusto took great care of her and we had a ride to remember.
