Guess I’m a little late- but the ring is open for truck ins! We have jumps and cavaletties and plenty of parking! Trainers with greenies (students or horses) contact me for a day rate.

With all of the rain, the field is not quite rideable, but after this week of sunshine, we’ll see where we are at.

Don’t jump? No worries, jumps move. The base at this time is a little shallow for reining, but otherwise is pretty darn functional.

Exciting news!
We will be hosting a MagnaWave practitioner for a day the last week in June or beginning of July !
I had Scooby done last fall and was blown away by how deep and global the benefits were. It really helped to open up his pelvis and shoulders!
Message me if interested- I’m getting a head count!

The spring rain is here! We’re gearing up for a big year at the farm now that there are some extra hands around!

First up will be a year-round road to the barn!

Next we will start to host truck-in schooling (weather permitting) in the very cool outdoor arena. We will determine a height schedule for jump days once we pull out fences this week.

If you want to truck in for the ring but don’t need jumps, give us a holler! The ring is ready! Day fee is $15 and proof of vaccination is required.

Lessons went spectacularly yesterday! We had a fabulous group of ladies from varing backgrounds, horses, and abilities come learn and have fun!

Taryn does a fabulous job meeting riders where they and their horses are at.

Next lesson is next Wednesday! (I’m still returning calls if you called with interest before!) We will likely be running regular Wednesday lessons for as long as we can!

RSVP to Emma at 518-572-0953

We’re hosting Taryn Pearce for a day of jumping lessons on Wednesday July 13th.

Taryn is a wonderful teacher who offers supportive and efficient help on the flat and over fences. Her competition background is lengthy, winning Grand Prixs and 3-day competitions.

She has competed on Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds, Ponies, and Quarter Horses and has no bias against your riding background or the horse that you’re on as long as you want to learn!

Contact Emma at 518-572-0953 if you’re interested in a lesson or getting on the contact list for future lesson days.

Scooby and Leah and I headed down to Saratoga for the Ridgebrook schooling show at White Hollow Farm. We had an insanely positive first show of the year!
Saturday we had to make some last minute arrangements for Sammy, and then we were on our way! Only to arrive at the ground to discover that mom forgot her riding boots sooooooooo Auntie Jess hacked the kids around for me. (Talk about lucky that I have such a skilled and kind barn bestie!)
Sunday- boots on hand- Scooby and I did the .80 and .85 jumpers. Now, this was a table 11.2b so I had to stay in to complete the jump off after my round. HOLY IM OUT OF SHAPE!!!! But we went clear and had a blast. Scoobs was very rideable and I feel like we are starting in a great place for the season. Bonus- the .85 felt small!
I also got to explore the hunter ring with Miss Leah. Enter Denise (again thank dog for skilled and kind barn bestie #2) who got her ready just know time for us to stand around and wait. So with 2 warm ups under her belt, and about an hour of ringside chill, Leah put down 2 lovely, quiet rounds in the 2’3 hunters and her very first flat class. I am beyond proud of this mare. Her evolution with this amateur sh*tshow has been profound.
So thankful for this barn of horses. They just keep getting better!

I had to pano this pic in order to fit entire new ring in my screen! Happy Spring!!! We have welcomed the sunshine with a massive overhaul — turning a ‘riding ring’ into an arena. The space is now 105x210 ish in an Art Deco design!

We look forward to sprucing and hosting this year!

Scooby and I are hoping to have some fun this summer!
Leah will beebop around too! Come check her out- she deserves a person to spoil her! Since she didn’t show last year, her price is flexible.

Scoobs is enjoying my birthday to the two of us!
Back in August we had The Saddle Gal out to check out our saddle situation. My saddle didn’t fit him well, but Scooby has an interesting topline with a huge shoulder and I didn’t know how to go about find the right fit.

I ended up falling for the Takt. My butt hit the seat and I had NO back pain. My leg sat in just the right spot.

Fast forward a few months and Scooby’s very own saddle arrived! We are in the break in period, but I’m really excited! His movement is just ridiculous! I can’t wait to jump him and feel how free his shoulder and back is to move!

This is our “there’s a s***ton of snow on the other side of this door” face.”

Hunter Pace season started with a blue bang!

If you have never participated— you must! So much growth happens out of the rings. Happy minds, Happy rides!

Next year we are hoping to host one or two smaller paces at the farm.

Leah was a super star- she’s still available. If you like to pace, she is your girl!

Bug Be Garden! Herbs gardens went in this year and I really do think they helped cut down on the bugs.
We have lavender, sage, mint, lemongrass, and maybe something else?
Next year I’ll landscape it… but, you know… priorities… like riding 🙃

Scooby and I had a WONDERFUL lesson today with Marla Merante of Running Horse Farm in Jay, who snapped this shot today!

We have found a happy hackamore and I’m learning the nuances of feel while bit-less. Guess what?! It gets better! Riding with seat is seeming to dictate the ride, the hands are the last ask in the chain, which is standard procedure, but all the more important nowadays.

Our flat work is unfolding and blooming, and everything is becoming micro-asks. Can’t wait to see what it all does for us on course!!!!

If you are interested in Dressage lessons, you will NOT go wrong with Marla! She is classically based- no short cuts. And she looks at the needs of the horse in front of her- and the rider- she figured my hot mess out pretty quick!

Riding high after last weekend’s Denny Emerson clinic! 13 yr old Emma would be SO proud of me.

I’ve been mulling over my to do list post ride (which included getting a Marine Corp Bulldog tattoo on my arm😂). The themes were not new- big idea homework type work. My individual homework is all about the minutiae. Blending the two is an art. It’s hard. It’s takes effort and consistency. It takes TIME. Riding is a journey. JOURNEY. There’s a beginning and hopefully no end, just evolution.

Just love this Scooby character 😂 he is going to bring out the best in me (for now I just notice the worst.) But damn, he lets me know when I’m right 🤣💙💙💙

So we decided to make Scooby a permanent fixture here at the farm! Today we went to Saratoga and jumped around to get our first Blue ribbon.

I am learning SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH with this guy. He’s funny, he’s not easy, but as my friend Jess it -he’s got hops!

Incredibly fortunate to take this adventure in my life. Thank you George and Scoobs for the opportunity 💙💙💙

So fun to capture the joy of Trisha and her new stud Wallace!!!!

I bopped a town south today to ride with some friends before the heat.

Fun fact: Trisha and I rode together at the very first barn I took lessons. She was also probably one of my first friends when my family moved to the mountains.

Second fun fact: Denise and I were in 4-H together FOR YEARS. Yay Essex Co Fair when there was still some horsemanship involved 😂

Third fun fact: Morgan- no f’ing idea how this girl came in the picture, but she leads with her heart and came into my life apparently when the universe thought necessary.

I’m so grateful for horse friends like this (where the top two goals are spoil your babies and have fun!). And the summer. And horses. And margaritas.

So Scooby had a Sarcoid (that will be the name of my children’s book.)

Dr Rod from SmartEQ saved the day yet again with slick removal of the tumor and some fancy stitch work.

Sarcoids are unfortunately not uncommon in our equine friends. We are coming at it from a immune response aspect as well— Dr Rod Will be creating a vaccine out of the tissue to help slow recurrence.

Busy morning but we are awful grateful for our wonderful team of vets up here!

There are some days when horses just amaze me. We train them to load into tiny silver boxes and load tiny said boxes into planes, trains, and FERRIES!

Sammy was digging the view of the mountains on the way home from the show in Vermont today.

Last year we invested in a tractor, which after not having a tractor (ever) has been such a game changer! Ring, manure, and pasture management have been EXTRAORDINARILY easier-imagine that 🙃.
The kids were not excited to have to wait inside while I mowed paddocks this morning, but they are loving the facelift to their paddocks now!

Kicked off the show season at Upstate Hunter Jumper Series yesterday with these awesome ladies! I brought Sammy(not for sale) down, who was off last season with a suspensory sprain.

The show was great for the greenies, but Dani and I were not up for waiting until dark for our Jumper class, so we decided to make a go into the Hunter ring instead. 😂...😂

I’m nothing but amazed at this journey:
This was the first year I arrived at the show and didn’t have hot pants on my hands-mind you Sam is 24, so for those of you waiting for them to grow out of it... it takes a while 🤣. But compared to my last ride on him (10/2019) I felt that some things were easier-requiring less thought on course, and other things we still have to iron out- things that I didn’t think I had to worry about on Sam because I only notice them on other horses. Well, turns out, I still have to be aware of them! (That’s what you get for riding the same horse for 20years.) We have our homework!
Cheers ladies! Onward and upward!
