As we end month, we would like to share these gut wrenching yet necessary statistis to end our series...
One unspayed female dog & her offspring over a period of 6 years can produce approximately 67,000 puppies.
Over $2 billion is spent annually by local governments to shelter and ultimately destroy 8-10 million adoptable dogs and cats due to shortages of homes. (Source: Business Wire Features)
90% of homeless dogs are pitbulls. 35% of animal shelters report taking in an average of one or more pitbulls each day; 93% of these dogs are euthanized. (Source: Spots.com/animal-euthanasia-statistics)
We ask that you take a moment to let these numbers sink in. It is always our goal to educate our followers and supporters in an effort to combat statistics like these. It is why we are desperate to remind everyone of the importance of spaying & neutering your pets. This procedure is essential to eradicate the over population of UNWANTED pets in this country. Rescuers like Tracy Rivers have committed their life to saving as many dogs as she can, but especially the sterotyped “Pit Bull” type dogs. It is her continued dedication that motivates all of us at Jenny's Dream to work tirelessly & endlessly to dispel the misconceptions of fear & hype generated by the media & the uneducated. There are NO bad dog breeds, only neglectful abusive owners. These photos of the dogs saved by Jenny’s Dream is such a minor fraction of adoptable dogs that were fortunate enough to be pulled, making their way through our Freedom Gate.
