Did you know alpaca fiber is not only soft and luxurious but also scientifically amazing? 🧬✨

Like other animal fibers, alpaca fiber is made of keratin protein with a structure of overlapping cuticle cells (scales) on top. 🐏 What makes alpaca fiber unique is the height and length of these scales. In huacayas, the scales are tight to the cortex, and in suris, they’re even tighter, giving the fibers a silkier, softer feel. 🌟 The longer scales also create fewer serrations along the fiber, resulting in an even smoother, softer touch and a beautiful reflective quality. 🌟✨
