It's that time of year again!! NCVC is here.
Ya'll thought I was going to say Halloween πŸŽƒ

Stop by the big pink booth and say hi, enter a chance to win some Savvy Tech Tools, Anesthesia Guru Tumbler, and a Capnograph Poster.
We have some new equipment for you to checkout. Unfortunately, the ICU unit is still stuck in Indianapolis, but you gotta stop by and let me show you some literature and videos on this product.
Our Showroom will be open in January/February/March....lol....this is a goal of mine and we are almost there! Not sure what you want to purchase or if your team will like a piece of equipment. Schedule a time to come to our office and check out the vaporizers, machines, ventilators, oxygen concentrators, and ICU unit. An investment should not be made lightly and your team should be involved in that decision.
See you this weekend!!

Happy Vet Tech Week! Thank you for all you do (and there is a lot that you do!!) Stay Fabulous My Friends!

My husband, Rob, and a good friend Dave are on the way to help take supplies to WNC. The Fix-it Lady van is empty and will pick up veterinary supplies at a drop point and then take them to those facilities in need. A big hug and prayers for a safe trip. A BIG Thanks to NCVMA for organizing all of the hurricane relief. And a BIG Thanks to Maiden Large AH for being a point of support for all of our veterinary friends.

Free 1.5CE at Maggiano's Little Italy, Charlotte, NC, March 21, 2024!

I am excited to be partnering with Delvin Joyce at Prosperity Wealth Group to present my newest CE:
"Feeling Blue About CO2?" "Understanding CO2 Channeling, Monitoring, & Removal in Your Anesthesia Machine"

This is an approved presentation by the NCVMB for 1.5 CE hours.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: How often should the CO2 absorber be replaced in your rebreathing system? This is a common question with no easy answer. There are multiple influencers that team members need to be aware of so they can make an informed decision on when to change the absorber. What else can cause elevated inspired CO2? Good CO2 absorber is only part of the removal process. This program discusses the different types of machine components that are important for CO2 removal, the differences, and similarities in 6 varieties of manufactured CO2 absorbers, and what the patient experiences during elevated inspired CO2. The anesthesia team will learn in detail the items that need to be checked before an anesthesia procedure is performed.

Enjoy a wonderful dinner and learn something new (and hopefully exciting 😁🐾).

Attached is more information on the when and the where. Please arrive around 6pm for sign-in, social time, grab a seat, etc... The presentation begins at 6:30pm.

Please RSVP to Ingrid: [email protected]
Hope to see you there!!

Helping out a veterinary friend of mine.

Anyone interested in a 36" Shoreline O2 Cage door?
They only wanted the two smaller ones but were also billed and shipped the 36" door. Unfortunately, the restocking and shipping fee make it unreasonable to send back to the manufacturer. If interested, please email me at: [email protected].

No, it is not free. Hospital would like to sell it at cost. Thanks!

Should we rethink on how we pressure test?
Are we missing leaks? Probably.

This is something I have become increasingly aware of as I perform pressure tests routinely during my service of anesthesia equipment. The frequency of seeing these leaks prompted me to share this video.
First - how I became aware of this. Many of us are taught to pressure test "the old-fashioned way ", using the breathing circuit, breathing bag, closing the pop-off and bringing pressure up to 30cm/H2O. Then if there is a drop in pressure, we have a leak that we need to isolate. Then came a "Ah-Ha" moment during a RACE CE presentation at a clinic that I have never been to before. It was during the pressure testing of their anesthesia machine that a 3L leak was discovered. Note: the team had been smelling Isoflurane, there was tape at the bottom of the canister, and it was pressure testing just fine doing the "old-fashioned way". On individual pressure testing the canister was leaking at the bottom where the tape was, and it was obviously cracked. It was enlightening!

The Video - this was during an annual anesthesia equipment service. The leak was discovered during the pressure testing of the equipment. The team was smelling Isoflurane. The Veterinarian is taking the video for me and gave me permission to share this with all of you.

In the video I state I have seen this 4 times, unfortunately, I have lost count of the number of times I have now seen this. Hopefully this will bring awareness on how important it is to individually check the different components of our breathing systems.

Enjoy the Video!
