Today, we pause to remember September 11th—a day that forever changed our nation. We honor the lives lost, the families who still carry the weight of grief, and the incredible bravery of the first responders who ran toward danger when everyone else was running away.
As I reflect, I’m reminded of John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” That scripture comes alive when we think of the firefighters, police officers, medical workers, and ordinary people who became heroes that day. Their courage is a powerful reminder of what it means to love sacrificially.
May we never forget the heartbreak of that day, but may we also never forget the resilience, unity, and faith that rose up in the midst of tragedy. Let’s continue to lift up our first responders and military in prayer, asking God to protect them as they serve and sacrifice for our safety every single day.
