℧ The Power of Equine Nutrition ℧

MVS will be holding an equine nutrition meeting on Tuesday, October 29th starting at 6 PM at the Pleasant Valley Community Center in Oakland, MD. Come join us along with Chris Cole from Pennwoods Equine and Debbie May from Boehringer Ingelheim for a night full of learning and fellowship. There will be a meal provided by the lovely ladies of the Pleasant Valley Community Center.

RSVPs are due by Tuesday, October 23rd. Please contact us to reserve your spot. Email us at [email protected] or call us at 304-788-6602 ext 2.

We wanted to share Apollo's full story! He was found as a stray by animal control in early June. He was found lying on the side of the road with a leg wound, and we were unsure if he had been struck by a vehicle. As his signs and symptoms progressed, it became apparent that he had tetanus. Even with severe, life-threatening signs, he never gave up. Despite overwhelming odds, he made it. 🙌

Tetanus left his rear legs paralyzed, so with the help of Pets With Disabilities, he was recently fitted with a wheelchair that can expand with him as he grows.

Now he needs a forever home!!! If you would like to adopt Apollo, please contact us!! And please like and share this post!😍

!!!!!!!POSITIVE RABIES CASES CONFIRMED!!!!!!! There have been positive cases of Rabies within our practice radius!

MVS encourages everyone in our community to make sure that all of your pets whether indoor or outdoor, large or small, are current on their Rabies Vaccine.

Please remember that WV State Law says all dogs and cats are required to be vaccinated by 6 months of age, boostered one year after initial vaccination and every third year thereafter.

To keep yourself and furry friends safe,
-Avoid approaching wild animals, especially if overly friendly or curious.
-Do not bring stray animals into your home without a quarantine period.
-Call animal control if you see any animal acting strange.
Presentation of symptoms can vary once the rabies virus enters the body, it travels along the nerves to the brain. Animals with rabies may show a variety of signs:
Fearfulness
Aggression
Excessive drooling,
Difficulty swallowing
Staggering
Paralysis
Seizures
