Happy Saturday, everyone !!

I'm still working away. But it's been good finding a routine.
Yesterday, I got a call from a shelter in Lampasas asking if I could take some pregnant cats/kittens, and for the first time in what seems like years, I had to say no.

I felt bad at first, but honestly, it felt good. I've spent so much time focusing all my energy on rescue that I've slacked on everything else. And right now, school is important to me. I won't take forever off, but it's nice to be able to focus on me right now.

I got a 2 week extension on this class since I didn't think I'd be done in time, but I think I'll finish sooner 😅 I was waiting on a book to arrive and it should be here soon.

Anyway, I will check back in soon. Meredith is doing okay, and so are the momma's (Story, Phoebe) and Rachel. I'm still trying to find them homes, but it's been hard.

1 more week of classes for round 2, and today, I had to draw a horses hoof 🥱😭🤣🫠

With color coding, too. Ugh. It's not my best work. I can draw plants, flowers, anything floral. But I still suck at random stuff like this. Let's just hope she's not grading my "art skills," hahaha 😆

It's been a long week, and I've been busy with online classes and pretty much daily appointments with inspectors, plumbers, etc, trying to get repairs done on my ceiling. They took over a week to dry everything out, and we'll have to have some stuff replaced because there was too much water damage from the flood 🙃

But i got the call from the veterinarian on Friday saying that Meredith's cardiac bloodwork came back fine. 🥳
Her heart is still enlarged, so for now, it's not the worst thing to worry about. But since she still can't figure out why she breathes so funny, she wants to wait to redo the x-rays when she's 6 months. We're delaying her spay as well until then. She wants better images of her lungs. As for her stomach, she's pretty sure she has delayed emptying, so her stomach isn't digesting her food as well as it should. She's still pretty backed up, so we're working on ways to get her cleaned out.

All in all, I'm just glad she's okay. It could have been a lot worse. She's doing well here, getting along with Trilly and Bonnie, being cute and trouble all at the same time. I'll keep yall updated when I know more 🙏🏻 And thank you to all the people who donated. I appreciate it immensely. These appointments are not cheap, and im just happy I can cover some it when needed.

📚 Our BACK TO BASICS SERIES: Pregnancy vs. Pyometra

Can you tell? Is she PREGNANT or does she have a LIFE-THREATENING CONDITION?

Pyometra is a bacterial infection of the uterus of an unspayed cat. It causes the uterus to fill with pus, often making the cat appear pregnant. This is a VERY SERIOUS condition that needs veterinary attention immediately as this infection can be fatal.

Signs of pyometra include a bloated abdomen, lethargy, vomiting, decreased appetite, excessive licking at the va**nal opening, blood in the urine, urinating outside of the litter box and more. There may or may not be discharge from the va**na. 🚨🚨 If your cat appears unwell, please take it to a veterinarian as quickly as possible. 🚨🚨 This can't wait. Pyometra can be avoided: spay your cat!

Well this sucks 😕

1 year ago today I said goodbye to my best girl ever 💔

Gigi was my sweetest girl. I can't believe it's been a year since we said goodbye. Cardiac issues took her away from me. There was never even a slight chance at saving her. I got 10+ months to love her. Miss you so much baby girl.

Now we have Meredith, who may have cardiac issues as well, and we still have our beautiful Bonnie girl, with a Pericardial peritoneal diaphragmatic hernia, who's here until the very end.

I think Gigi knew we'd continue fighting for the one's without a voice. And I'm just thankful that I never question my gut feelings anymore. 🙏🏻

When I feel something is off, I run with it until I have answers. Thankful for good doctors, and to all the wonderful people who continue donating to help me save all these precious kittens 😸 ❤️ 💜

Well, i think my gut feelings shouldn't ever go unnoticed again 😅

X-rays showed organs in the right place, but there's a question of cardiac issues. Her hearts a bit enlarged, and we couldn't get a good visual of her lungs like we needed.

We skipped the ultrasound today to get some cardiac bloodwork done instead. I just didn't have enough to cover it all. I'll find out in a few days whether or not I should be worried. If things come back okay, then we'll just monitor her for a bit before scheduling her spay.

She'll go back for a recheck in 2 weeks, and hopefully, by then, I'll have some good answers. 👍🏻

Absolutely heartbreaking 💔

Goodbye for now Wyatt 😢 🌈 🐈 🐾

This is the hardest post I’ve ever had to write. Wyatt passed away today. He was in his bed and suddenly became distressed. I rushed over, held him, tried to figure out what was wrong, and he stopped breathing. It was very quick. I tried CPR, but he was gone.

I’m not okay. I probably won’t be okay for a while. Wyatt was my whole life for the last 10 months. I know there are hundreds of great memories, but each one feels like a shard of glass.

He was the happiest baby ever. He knew nothing but love. And I miss him more than anything.

Thank you for all you did to give him the best life.

I love you, Wyatt. I love you with my whole, shattered heart.

This is all I’m able to write for now. 💔

Meredith's appointment is scheduled on the 15th, and we're STILL trying to raise funds for whatever tests they may need to run. We have just a few more days.

As of now,we know she's getting an ultrasound, but she may need an X-ray as well. Her belly is still very large, and the way she breathes has us all on edge. It's not always bad, but whether she's resting, playing, or just sitting upright, she takes such deep, heavy breaths. It's definitely not normal. Kittens normally breathe a bit faster while sleeping, but she has a mix of fast, deep, and sometimes she'll skip a breath.

I'm hoping these tests will tell us something important. As of now, she's only 15 weeks old. We can't have her spayed until we know for sure she's okay. So I'm crossing my fingers.

This is where I'll be for the next 3 days, finishing up another chapter of studying/testing 😆

I have my Cherry and yummy Smores keeping me fed.
And sweet Mer Mer is being the best lil studdy, buddy. She only occasionally smacks my pencil out of my hand or randomly starts licking the computer screen 🤔 😆

Hopefully, this round will be finished by Wednesday afternoon, so I'll update more. Her appointment is still scheduled for the 15th for her ultrasound. If we can raise enough funds, I'll be scheduling her an X-ray as well.

Starting the new year off with Mer Mer cuddles.

I'm already emotional waiting on the 15th. Just impatient to get her ultrasound done so we can see if her belly is okay. Since birth she's had an enlarged belly. Even after deworming almost a dozen times. There's just large lumps in her lower abdominal wall that don't feel right. And the rib bones are off. I feel an extra 1 or 2 of them. And when she's resting she breathes really fast/deep. With my experience this year with sick/terminal cats, it has me stressed. She cries if we pick her up wrong and doesn't like her back/belly touched too hard. Almost like it's painful for her.

She's the absolute sweetest baby. Bonnie and Trilly adore her. Milly is the best Auntie Doggy, and this week she is now sleeping with me since all the other kittens have been adopted. This is all she wants to do. Snuggle and suckle her blankie. I'm cherishing every moment with her. And I seriously pray that she's just a fat girl who loves food, and is maybe backed up a little 😆 That would seriously be the best outcome. We can live with a few extra ribs, everything else just needs to be gone 🙌🏻🫶🏻

My 2024 year in a nutshell.

My year has been full of love, stress, tears, joy, loss, emergency visits, emergency surgeries, cardiac appointments, specialist appointments, x-rays, ultrasounds, bad news, more loss....sick babies I never thought would make it, surpassing everyone's expectations, finding the best homes...and some who are still here almost a year later 💔

It's been a long year. But I'm thankful for all I've been able to accomplish 🙏🏻 And I'm so incredibly thankful for all the amazing people who have supported me. Whether it's financially, sending food and supplies, and even those who help share posts to get these babies homes. Every little thing matters in rescue. It takes a VILLAGE, and I honestly have the best one ❤️

Merediths appointment is finally booked for the 15th of January. 🙌🏻

I have no idea how much it's gonna cost me, but I'm trying to save as much as possible. She'll be getting an ultrasound and possibly an x-ray to see what's going on in her bulging belly. I'm crossing my fingers that there's no organ displacement. All I feel is lumps all over her lower belly, so crossing fingers. If the tests are clear, I can finally book her to be spayed. She's the last one here to be fixed.

She's such a sweet girl. So loveable and the absolute BEST biscuit maker. 😍

Almost 11 weeks old, and im in tears....

All the babies except for George/Meredith have homes lined up. Meredith is sticking around until we can have her seen for her stomach issues. And George has had 2 people who've wanted to adopt him, but then they ghost. So it is what it is. His perfect home will come around soon.

They've received their 2nd vaccines, and now I'm just monitoring a couple of girls' weights so we can have them spayed. All is well, and they're doing great.

Sorry for not updating, but online classes have me busy, and we're trying to keep up with the household chores. Hopefully, things will slow down once the kids are home for Christmas break ❤️
