I am sharing this story to emphasize the importance of hiring a professional. If these loving cat parents had a neighbor or friend cat sit for them the outcome could have been much different. The cat this is about is fine now but the situation could have been lethal.
Potential new client with two indoor cats contacted me requesting visits every 3 days. I explained that my policy was a minimum of one visit per day for cats. No problem, no push back. We schedule our meet and greet. During our meeting we discussed my need for two different medical release forms, one for their regular vet and one for the emergency vet hospital. The husband is actually surprised when I explain how quickly a urinary issue can become fatal in felines. Fast forward to my third visit, the first day of 6 where the client is completely unreachable, when I find blood in many different areas of the house. Long story short, male cat was taken to emergency clinic for treatment. Is on medication to resolve the problem. Client won’t even know until they are no longer river rafting. That is on Sept 5th sometime. They don’t return home until the 8th. We all know how this could have turned out if I hadn’t had the proper procedures, policies and paperwork. Here’s to hiring a professional!
