The Regional Animal Shelter (RAS) is a municipal facility that provides for the care and welfare of displaced animals from King William and King and Queen Counties. RAS assists citizens of our community with a wide range of services such as:

Pet adoption to suitable permanent homes
Tracking of lost and found animals
Redemption of animals to their owners
Dog licensing for King William and King and

Queen Counties

RAS ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT:

Proper pet care, treatment, and training
Community animal laws

**STRAY ALERT**

We had 4 different stray dogs come in over the holidays with no collars and no microchips. Both male, intact beagles (tricolor and brown & white) were found on Garnetts Mill Lane in Walkerton. The black & tan male, intact hound was found on Etna Mills Road and is blind in his right eye. The blue nosed Pit neutered male was found on Spring Forest Road in Aylett. Please come reclaim your pets as we are getting FULL once again!

Say it aint so.... but in less than a week we now have had THREE cats give birth in our shelter!!! This is Whisky another baby herself around 5 months old who just gave us this surprise when we walked in. It's not uncommon for cats in shelters to hide their pregnancy or to give birth under the cover of night- especially if they aren't the most social with people. Luckily Whisky has been making friends with our director and was willing to accept her words of affirmation this morning as we helped get her baby to latch for a feeding this morning. Fingers crossed it seems Whisky has more maternal skills than her counter friend Lucy but only time will tell. We will be reaching out to fosters who submitter their info last week to hopefully get this girl and her nugget outside of the shelter ASAP. Looking for other ways to help? KitKat is rocking her baby mamma waddle 😍😍 We know the countdown is going to be soon before she pops... so we figured we would put it out to let our followers in on the baby count! Drop a number below on how many babies you think KitKat has in her belly 🐾

Send piggies our way!! Far be it from us to take away a hound and his most favorite piggy toy!! This squeaker was recently donated and boy oy boy Felix has become smitten with it. Then we thought... 🤔 How could we get one for all of pur dogs?! We knew the only possible way was to see if our favorite community fans would be willing to shop all the places and send us lots of piggies! Felix is also in need of a home... we don't have an Amazon link for that but if you share this post maybe you can help us find him one? #sharingiscaring

Another desperate plug for these boys 🤩🤩 These two elder begales are a HOT MESS EXPRESS of medical needs... and while they may be well over 8 years of age their hearts are just as pure as gold. We have learned.... 1. Not a fan of cats 2. Not a fan of other dogs (we haven't really seen them engage with a calmer dog but so far they just seem to put on their cranky pants when other dogs are in their face) 3. They absolutely adore each other. 🥰 This leaves us in a very hard predicament. Initially we felt we could foster them separate but just watching them light up with each other is making that hard. Then comes the behaviors they are showing us towards other animals... So look here's the thing... we need our community to help us give these guys a chance! We are keeping our fingers crossed hoping we can find a rescue organization who can take these two guys on given their medical challenges but in the meantime we really could use a foster for them. If you have other dogs...but utilize a baby gate system.. that is 100% doable. These guys arent jumping any Olympic hurdles anytime soon lol Rescue groups are encouraged to email our Shelter Director at [email protected] ASAP Interested fosters are encouraged to email us at [email protected] with a little about your house hold and length of time you can foster them. At this time fosters must live within 1 hour of our Shelter. This post IS shareable and that is the best way to make a difference if you can't foster!

Shout out to our friends with SCAT-Sharons Critter Action Team who came by and gifted us with handmade blankets, cat toys and some good ol belly laughs! SCAT is one if our rescue partners who has been amazing over these years when we have been in crisis by taking in many cats from us and helping find them wonderful homes. As you can tell our cats love these new goodies and our queen Callie also gives 5 paws of approval ❤️ Thank you again so much for this gift 🎁 #adopt #foster #reclaim #rescue
