East Coast Gentle Giants Rescue, Inc.

East Coast Gentle Giants Rescue, Inc. ECGGR,Inc is a 501(c)3 non profit organization based out of Boston, Mass. We take in abused, neglected and "got too big" mastiff breeds.

We rescue and rehabilitate abandoned, abused and neglected dogs as well as those on death row in municipal shelters in NY, MA, MD, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL. Please keep in mind that this is a rescue. We very rarely get dogs that are the model citizen type. Some of the dogs have come from neglectful situations, owners who could not handle the necessities for the breed, shelters and other rescue organizat

ions. In most cases we do NOT have a complete history on the dog, nor do we claim to. If you are looking for a puppy most of the time we will not be able to help you. Puppies are a rarity in rescue, we MIGHT get a puppy under 6 months once or twice a year, if that. If you are looking for a puppy, please look elsewhere. If you want a dog tomorrow, it is not going to happen that quickly through our rescue organization. We require an adoption application to be filled out, phone interview, vet check, reference check, and a home visit in order to adopt one of our dogs. At this time, if all of the above stated has been complete, an adoption fee and adoption contract are required to complete the adoption. Please be patient, this process can take anywhere from a week to a month.

02/05/2025

We will be very slowly and selectively taking dogs into rescue again.

As before we will follow our original protocols. Please do not message me to take in dogs with bite histories, severe cases of aggression, or puppy mill rescues in which we have to pay the millers to “save” their dogs.

We are a purebred Mastiff Breed Rescue, these are the only breeds we will accept.

**CROSSPOSTING FOR A FRIEND/Fellow Trainer**
Amavi is still looking for her perfect home. She is spayed, has her rabies shot, and is microchipped. She comes with a kennel, collar, leash, and a couple toys. She is best guessed to be around 3 years old. 45-50lb cute little bully breed mix. I have been fostering her since last fall and would love to find her a family of her own. Dog selective but seems to be getting better and better with the animals around here. SLOW intros are best as she’s pretty socially dominant with dogs.

The ideal home:
- no small children, she tends to jump and move quickly.
- only dog or live with another lower energy dog that won’t be too pushy with her.
- cats are okay as long as she’s supervised. I’d never leave a dog unattended with a small animal in general.
- younger more active home. This girl lovesssss to play tug, fetch, and frisbee and would definitely be someone’s best hiking buddy. Would be a really fun beginner sport dog for barn hunt, agility, disc, or other similar sports, but is always down to cuddle and take a nap.
- ideally she’d be the star of someone’s show and really craves individual time and attention but does really well in the crate.

I’m just asking for a good, responsible home!

Message me any and all questions:) more pictures and videos upon request.
Please do not message me unless you have read the whole ad please 🙂

Will also be driving to MN/ND beginning of July again.

Raleigh area but often drive to Jacksonville area.

Plz share🥲🖤

Good morning everyone. I just wanted to say how sorry I am that we have not gotten back to anyone in the past several months via PM and messages and tags. This account was hacked and the password was changed by a former volunteer who refused to give us access to the account. After many many months we were finally able to gain access back. I cannot imagine how many dogs we could have helped during this time. Please feel free to reach out. I am going thru messages trying to respond to everyone now that has been left unanswered for months on end…

Thank you all for your support!!!

I know times are tough. One of our own needs help during these difficult times. And amount helps! $1, $5 or even just sharing. We appreciate!

While we haven’t been publicly active for a while, we continue to do shelter advocacy. Linking rescues who can take in dogs, evaluate dogs locally as well as training/behavioral consulting to keep dogs in their current homes.

Her good friend Jane Adams created this go fund me unbeknownst to her.

Happy FIFTEENTH Birthday to my heart and soul 🎉🎉 A month ago I would’ve told you he wasn’t going to see 15, but in usual Rocky fashion he proved me wrong. Not only is he turning 15, today marks 5 years since he got his freedom ride from NYC to Kentucky. I was originally supposed to just be a transport volunteer 🤣 I knew as soon as I met him he was home with me. A month after arriving we got the cancer diagnosis, and he’s beaten all of those odds as well! There aren’t words to describe how incredible this boy is, and I’m forever thankful to everyone who made his Rescue possible ❤️❤️❤️ Celebrating today filled with love, treats and toys!

Rocky was rescued from death row at NYCACC in October of 2014

Spirit update- her first wrap/cast change has been done. She is a scared baby in pain. We chose to fully sedate, to ensure the best care. Due to her age. . There will be a lot of changes. Spirit is well, stable. She will return with her foster mother this morning. Thank you for keeping her in your thoughts. There is a huge road ahead.
