What’s on your list from Santa this year? Mom had a patient ask this and she said she wanted a pony! Nonetheless, Santa showed up with a package from the North Pole. Inside was a toy pony! How cute is that?!

Luli got to run around off leash for the first time since she hurt her toe. She flopped around like a rocking horse and was so excited to play with Theo. Both of them are doing much better and have finished their antibiotics. Thank you for all the well wishes ❤️❤️❤️

It’s that time of year when our street is lined in red leaves. It’s also the time of year that reminds me most of Haley and Ferguson. I lost both of them during the holidays and the crisp air will forever remind me of them. Pictured is young Theo and Haley. She was going through her chemo treatments during this picture, but was still happy as ever. ❤️

We have four goldens in the house and it couldn’t be more fun! Isla and Zoe are with us for a few days and they are the most adorable sisters. Zoey is playful and romps around with Luli nonstop. She sits pretty for her food and it is the cutest thing! Isla loves to hold toys and enjoys shopping out of our toy baskets. She looks at us with her wiggly tail and her big eyes peering over the most giant stuffy she can find and it just makes me want to give her 1000 kisses. Theo is the only boy in the house and hangs back to watch over everyone. Luli has showed the sisters where the bunnies like to hide in the backyard and they all three will stare under the deck just hoping one will come out. The 4 of them couldn’t get along better and it’s so much fun to watch how wonderfully they interact. ❤️

An oldie but a goodie. I love this photo of Haley, Theo and Andrew. The other day I realized that Luli had been a longer part of Theo’s life than Haley had. I am so grateful for every second I had with Haley, but still question why we have to lose them early to such horrible diseases. I’m currently holding Luli and Theo closely before I head out for work. ❤️

Theo update: Andrew took him to his ultrasound appointment yesterday. They had a hard time getting him sedated. We had given him trazodone that morning and then when he got to the vet they gave him an injectable sedation. He still wouldn’t relax, so they ended up having to give it through IV. I guess he passed out immediately which is great because the last thing I want for him is to stress. They did a great job shaving his belly and we will get final results within a week. From what the vet could see yesterday, everything looks consistent with gastritis/ibd, which is better news than we were thinking. Last night and this morning he is very uncomfortable. He keeps gagging, wouldn’t go to sleep last night and when we let him outside he eats grass like he’s a horse. Fast and huge bites. He won’t even go potty because all he wants is to eat grass (most likely to settle his stomach). He’s on a bland diet and we slowly working back up to normal portions and are feeding very small portions, more frequently. I’m praying he can get through this discomfort quickly because it’s hard to watch him like this 😔

Please keep Theo in your prayers and send him positive vibes. Tomorrow he goes in for an ultrasound. I’ve mentioned that he keeps turning around and looking at his side like he is confused and at one point was ravenously eating grass and dirt. He’s started to have G.I. issues the last few months. We’ve switched his diet, ran blood work, urinalysis, fecals etc and nothing so far has been too alarming. This last week things have gotten worse and he started to throw up, plus have rear end issues 😔 To put it lightly we are absolutely terrified. This has given us flashbacks to Haley when she became ill with lymphoma. I’m really praying we aren’t facing another form of the c word. These beautiful Goldens don’t deserve to have this nasty disease be so prominent in their lines. We’ve been holding him tight and giving him extra love. I’ve been really good about fighting back tears and my fears until last night, but I really need to try to stay positive until we know more. Thank you for keeping Theo in your thoughts and prayers ❤️

I could not be more grateful to have this boy home!

I know so many of you have questions and I do too. I am not 100% sure what happened, but Theo escaped from the vet yesterday after his surgery. I got the call while I was at work. I didn’t have a car yesterday and my gracious coworkers immediately volunteered to help. One handed me her keys and said “take my car.” Then a couple others were like, “she can’t drive right now.” They knew I was already a an emotional wreck. My coworker Maddy drove me to the vet and the entire way I tried to contact everyone I knew in the area and also tried to get the word out on social media that he was lost.

When I arrived at the vet, one of the doctors was outside. She said he had been spotted and somehow got into a semi-fenced business.

Maddy drove me to this location and my husband pulled in at the exact same time. There was no one at this business and we weren’t sure how to get in. The business is fenced on three sides and the other side is the highway. We saw him run by towards the back which is where the highway is. My heart sank! The vet techs had found a dip under the fence and with their help they pulled up the fence as much as they could and I went feet first under to get in.

I started running towards the back of this property and I even remember in my head “you can run faster.” Meanwhile my husband was crawling under the fence.

We got towards the back of the property and didn’t see him. My heart sank and I didn’t know whether to head up towards the highway or what to do. Then, I spotted him out of the corner of my eye. He was behind some equipment and was just terrified. We called him and he ran. I felt like we were trying to catch a coyote. My husband went behind one building and I tried to go around the other side, but Theo was faster than I was. He didn’t want to come to us and kept bolting. He was in absolute panic/shock mode. My husband eventually caught him. Theo was dehydrated and panting like crazy. We immediately gave him water and one of the vet techs ran a wet rag over his head. His toenails were bleeding from running across the pavement & he has some raw spots on his paw pads. *continued in comments*

Look at this happy face 😍 Oh Haley how I miss you so much.

This weekend we had a scare with Theo. He acted like he had something in his throat and would beg to go outside. When he went outside, he ravenously ate grass to the point where it was hard to pull him away from it. He came inside and smacked his lips and kept swallowing. We called emergency vets and they were all at capacity. An hour later he slowly started to improve and the techs on the phone said he could have an upset stomach. Yesterday, we got him in with the vet and we are now waiting on bloodwork. Lately, he’s had the craving to eat a lot of dirt and his 💩 has been darker. I’m just praying my little boy is ok. ❤️

Two became four! It’s always fun to watch the heads turn as we are walking with our friends. The first dog usually gets an “aww” then the second “omg” and the third and fourth “there’s more!” The dogs love the attention and think it’s so fun when people say hi to them 🥰

Theo’s favorite thing is the water! Can you tell?!

Theo is feeling better so we took him on a walk around a beautiful lake yesterday. His radiology report says that he has gastritis and minor IBD. We are waiting on the gastrointestinal panel, but so far this is better news than what we feared. As of Saturday, he is no longer regurgitating. We are slowly transitioning his diet from bland to a new prescription diet. His bowl movements still aren’t normal, but I am thankful he seems to be at least feeling better. Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers. Theo and Luli are the world to us and we felt so sick from fear of bad news last week. We got a foot of snow and it’s a good day! ❄️ We are waiting on two more tests for Theo but received some great news! Theo’s phosphorus levels were normal this second time around. Since dogs lose phosphorus through their breath if they are stressed this is probably what it was. Very thankful and relieved. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the last couple tests are also normal🤞

She’s always been food obsessed and even as a 9 week old puppy we called her “Goody Girl” because she would always wait by the Goody room aka the laundry room with the dog food. She was wiggly and her tail was wagging the entire time and she couldn’t wait to pose with her dad during this shoot because we had some new yummy cookies. Is your dog a foodie too?
