We strive to keep regular hours in the tack shop, however, if we are not there when you visit, or you'd like to make an appointment to visit, please give us a call.
Due to illness, the Open Barn Birthday is postponed until a later date to be determined. The amazing girls from Shooting Star Specialty Acts will still be coming and working their horses throughout the day, in case there are some visitors who would still like to stop by and see them. The ladies from Shooting Star Specialty Acts will be working their Liberty horses here throughout the day. Come and watch, ask questions and meet their horses at OPEN BARN DAY! Saturday, May 18th 12pm - 6. Come and experience horses all day long. There will be demonstrations, games, drawings, tons of fun for everyone... and it's FREE! One will be at the Kirksville WalMart between 11am and 1pm so look for us as we're looking for you! There will be PRESENTS to unwrap for the first and last KCHC t-shirt supporters we can find! If we can't find one, these gifts will be added to the next t-shirt hunt, and the next, and the next, until we find you or you find us.
DON'T HAVE A SHIRT? They're fundraiser items available at the KCHC Tack Store, or make one of your own design and on New Year's Day we'll award our favorite!

Today is our Open Barn Birthday from 11-6 at 25161 Laurel Lane, Kirksville, MO. Entry is FREE! Experience live demonstrations, games and other activities, including the chance to ride a horse inside our indoor arena. Hope to see you there!
Our spring schedule includes 2 performances in the NE Missouri area! The Shooting Star Liberty Act will be featured at the open house of the Kirksville Community Horse Center in Kirksville, MO on May 20, 2023. The next weekend, we will be performing the liberty act at the Milan Rodeo in Milan MO on both Friday and Saturday nights. This will be a big step.....our horses' first time in front of a big "rodeo" crowd! We are a little unsure how that will turn out, but fingers crossed that they are ready!

Feed has nearly doubled, but we've kept our fees low since we opened. "Just the Husband" says, "if the horses are going to eat, we're gonna have to raise our rates April 1 - no foolin'." The good news, is... if you're a student rider with us on March 31, your rates won't go up a penny. When you're loyal to us, we're loyal to you! Continue lessons at KCHC and your fee is protected. So are those nice tack store discounts. How kool is that?!
This weekend is time to trim the whiskers... on the equines of course! Come join us and get the chance to practice the basics on a real fuzzy horse. Sunday afternoon after church, meet us at the barns on Laurel Lane 1 - 4pm. Cya then!
Got a saddle that needs TLC? Bring it on over! This afternoon is Tack Cleaning Day at Kirksville Community Horse Center Clubhouse- Come join us anytime 11-4 and spring clean your leather, see some neat stuff and have your tack questions answered. The saddle soap's on us, LOL!

Save your spot - We'd love to know if you or your favorite horse lover would be interested in spending a few days getting practical experience learning tons about our favorite four-leggeds. Starting at the basics, our goal is to begin creating a strong foundation for those who would like to get serious about anything equine. This is our first group, but if it goes well, there will be more to follow as students gain skills and are interesting in learning even more!
Includes: Horse Safety, Barn Safety, Basic Equine First Aid and Emergencies, Trailering, Tack, Grooming and Hoof Care, Nutrition and Feeding, Conformation, Buying a Horse and Barn Management. Learn by actually doing everything from building the right bridle, putting out a barn fire and taking your horse's vitals, to building a detailed barn notebook and the chance to do some horse related art for display later. When finished, students are invited to exhibit their projects at the KCHC Open Barn Celebration in May. Course will include most or all supplies.
Now this is our first go in Kirksville, so if you have any suggestions or ideas, please let us know how to make it better. Which do you think would work better for you..... WOW! So much happening here since our opening May 7th. Busy, busy, busy. If you have a question or need to get in touch with someone here, please call and leave a message if necessary at 660.342.6118 The South cell tower is still apparently under construction and has hit our ability to communicate HARD. I also do not answer the phone during lessons, which are most of the day. Please have patience with us. We did not anticipate that simply getting a phone call or text through would be such an enormous hurdle.
Thank You to EVERYONE who came out for our Grand Opening ribbon cutting, dedication, demonstrations, games and tours. We plan to make our anniversary a yearly event, full of horse activities and educational fun!
Thanks to Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce for getting us off to a marvelous start!
Today is the day!!! Opening day!! We hope to see you here this evening or tomorrow for our opening weekend. We are so very excited for all the fun that will be had. We aren't letting the weather tomorrow dampen our spirits or our fun.
Kirksville Community Horse Center's Grand Opening is scheduled for Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May 8. We're planning some exciting things to see and do including amazing demonstrations and even special events for the horse-loving kids in your life. Don't miss us - Put the date in your calendar!
