Let’s clear things with the Kikiriki chickens, recently i have been asked a LOT for hatching eggs and a lot of questions on why the size of the Kikiriki is not the same and a couple other questions. So I am born and raised in PR I grew up my whole live around chickens and a bunch of other animals, I had my first kiki when I was 10. So now 30 years from that I still have the same passion about them!!
Why I don’t sell eggs? Simple The hatch rate on the eggs is no more than a 60%. Why?? Here are some pictures of the breeds responsible for the creation of the kikiriki, also Kikiriki is the nick name by their crows. The first 2 crossbreed was the Old English x Japanese Bantam, the purpose was get beautiful colors from the Old English but with short legs like the Japanese. What happened next was amazing line breed time after time and that’s what we have now.
That being said, the shorter they have gotten the harder that has been for breeding in high numbers, some how the lethal 🧬 from the Japanese has never disappeared from them and that’s why we get so many different sizes on the Kikirikis. A real ‘Breeder’ will explain this things to you if you, also the size will change the price on the birds so if you think is to much for the bird ask if they are short ask for videos and lots of pictures if you can.
When the Seramas where first brought to US by The one and only Jerry I did some research and the first Seramas from his flock were shipped to PR some year from 2004 to 2008 (Name will remain unknown because I don’t have permission from the first person that did that purchase) he was the first person introducing the Seramas to a kikiriki flock, now we have different types in the kiki thanks to that.
The Sebright is also another Bird that was cross to them to get the color laced.
So when you are interested in buying a kiki you need to know the difference in types, shapes and sizes always ask, some people will hurt your pockets if you are not aware of this things.
Also I do NOT promote the sale off kikiriki eggs…. Whoever sells them must not know what they’re doing at ALL, if you are one you can leave my page if you’re not you are ok lol. If you find people doing this please avoid them. Hatch rates on the kikis are hard for even the actual kikiriki breeders.
I got so much to say but I am tired now lol!
