A little late to celebrate but the Legacy Litter is 3 weeks old! 💫

They have been an absolute joy so far! They opened their ears and were toddling around before 2 weeks old, and have been engaging in play for over a week. Their personalities are really starting to shine through and it’s been so cool getting to learn who they are. Crazy to think they’re nearly a month old!

Introducing, The Legacy Litter✨

Being both Indie and Chev’s first litter it felt necessary to pay tribute to the years of sheepdogs behind them and the footsteps their offspring get to follow.

We welcomed 5 perfect puppies on November 20th, 3 girls and 2 boys. It feels like I’ve waited a lifetime for this litter 💗

Golden hour with my best girl ☀️

The last few days have been a blur! I drove to VA for the USBCHA sheepdog finals and ran Fia, from . We competed in the nursery class and had a decent go around in prelims, placing us in top 40 and taking us to the Nursery finals. Our run on the finals field was cut short by a very enthusiastic grip from Fia 😆 It was my first finals ever and Fia’s too, she worked her heart out for me and we got plenty of kind words from fellow handlers. I got to run with the big hats for a day and can’t wait to get back out on the trial field!

It’s been a while but I’m back with the reveal you’ve been waiting for! Indie puppies have been in the works for years and I’m thrilled for this cross 💗

Chev needs little introduction but I have to cover the highlights! Chev was a competitive nursery dog his first year trialing, and at 1.5yr old was 20th at the 2023 national nursery finals. He’s continued to excel, and was running in open before he was two. He earned his first open points at a large trial (90+ dogs) this summer. Most recently he competed at Meeker, proving he has the power and feel to move range ewes. Off the field Chev is a competitive shed hunting dog and was ranked the #3 border collie for 2023. His good looks and outgoing personality are just the icing on the cake.

If everything goes as planned we’ll be expecting Indie x Chev puppies in November! The countdown begins 🤞🏼

We ended the year off with a couple fun events with our favorite clubs, securing all the points we needed for UpDif 2024.

Nome got his first title too! Officially Redbrooke Nome DDB 🥹
He has such a bright future ahead of him and I cannot wait to tackle this upcoming year together!

I often forget how young he is. He’s so intelligent and progresses so quickly it’s easy to forget he’s just a baby. I’ve always loved playing disc with him but recently we’ve really clicked and it’s such a special feeling. I’m excited to see what the rest of the year has in store for us!

After a long break we’re back at it!
•
We attended our first AHBA trial this week and had a blast. It’s been months since I’ve trialed dogs so this was a much needed trip!
Indie ran in HTAD II on day one; she completed her course, had a qualifying run, and got first place in her class!
Day two was tough. We moved up to HTAD III which required different things than level II. I didn’t understand a portion of the field and ended up causing our run to not qualify. I was super frustrated with my mistake but I was thrilled with Indie’s work, she came out level headed and took every command I gave her.

Finally getting around to posting photos from UpDif 2023 and these are a few of my favorites— I feel like these photos capture how happy I am every time I step on the field with my dogs and I’m so grateful these moments were captured 🥹

I went into this first year ready to take on the UpDif experience and was humbled to compete amongst the best teams UpDog has. The weather was all over the place but the spirits were always high! I connected with my dogs in ways I never had before and couldn’t be more proud of how they performed.

I have a couple incredibly talented dogs I get to be a part of a team with and I cannot wait to push myself as a handler to see us reach our full potential! Our focus will soon shift back to herding for the upcoming months but disc has surely left our hearts full this season.

Truly an extraordinary boy.
A dog who has more capabilities than I do as a handler, constantly pushing me to improve.

He’s such a loyal teammate and I cannot wait to see the adventures we embark on together.

We attended the February NashVertical UpDog event and had a blast! A few new personal bests and a lot of placements, here’s the recap!

Talk about a wonderful way to kick off the 2023 disc season! We finalized our UpDif runs for this year too and got into every game we entered— these girls are on fire!

It’s been a while since we’ve posted but even longer since we’ve featured Asha!

We’ve been super busy with training and the holidays but we’ll take a break next weekend and go down to Georgia for our last UpDog event of 2022. Hopefully we’ll see some scores that qualify us for more 2023 UpDif games!

Indie girl and her ribbons from the Glenrose trial this year! 🐑
•
Indie has done really nicely in ProNovice this past trial season and brought home many placements!

At the Glenrose trial series she placed, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, & 3rd in her runs, as well as High in Trial twice and overall High in Series.
At the Coppar Creek Stockdog trial she placed 2nd & 3rd in a large pronovice class on some pretty tough sheep.

This is the first dog I’ve ever trained/trialed and our first season trialing together, to say I’m pleased with her is an understatement.
Onwards & Upwards little one! 💜

Ember made her UpDog debut this weekend and it was really cool to be there and see her play!

Ember’s first time on stock 1/29/22

Ember (Asha x Neal) got to see stock for the first time today and had a blast! It only took her a couple minutes in the round pen to get her sheep moving and get to work! I’m thrilled with how she did and very thankful I was able to be there to see her turn on to stock 🤍
