Not sure what these other hens are saying to mama and baby chick?! But they’ve got a lot to say!
Mama hen has to leave for just a minute to get water or eat and leave the New little black/grey chick with the egg pile she’s hatching.
Of course the flock is super curious about the little chirping baby, but mama hen is pretty protective and comes running back!
The newly hatched sweet little baby chickens 🥰 arrived yesterday and today!
These guys (hopefully gals) were hatched from egg colors we only have 1-4 chickens can produce. For instance, we have only one chicken currently that can lay green eggs, so 3 of these are her green egg babies. A couple of blue eggs, a white egg, a couple of super dark brown eggs. To try to produce more variety in egg colors in the future.
They get a feather duster to help them feel safer and more like they would if they were being raised with a mother chicken, so they can run and hide in the feathers. Though they seem to be pretty happy just snuggling with each other under the heat lamp 😊
These guys are going to also be getting a renovated living area to move out into, so that we can provide top coverage for better protection from predators. We’ve lost almost all the chicks we have hatched due to predators that must be coming from above! 😭😭😭
The kids absolutely were overjoyed to see them hatching, cheering for them to crack their eggs 🥰🥰🥰 giggling to hold the little fluff balls and giving them their names like Julia and Zinnia.
All 5 chicks hatched today!!! 2 yellow chicks from leghorn chickens. 2 dark chicks with light stripes from olive egger chickens. 1 dark chick with feathered legs from a Maran chicken. 🥰
We can’t believe it! Never had 100% hatch rate from the incubator.
The new babies hatching! 🥰
Two more chicks on their way….
The first baby chick has hatched from its light blue egg!!! 🐣
Today’s eggs…needless to say, we don’t say no when you want to give us egg cartons 😂

They’re ready to just walk in the back door 😆🫣
Cake strips help keep the cake edges cooler, lengthening the time it takes for the edges to cook…so the middle of the cake can catch up!
Today’s eggs…so far. There’s usually a few stragglers that lay their eggs after 5pm.
